New Training Plans

If you want to work on endurance, it might give you a Highland workout.

Awesome! My new info for the day.

I know Nate has been hesitant to touch the Multisport plans because Run TSS isn’t perfect and 0 TSS for swims is just not reality.

Just mirror your Race schedule for 2022 then Use plan builder to make the plan using all the same inputs as this year then compare

Full Distance MidVolume has changed a lot. I was doing 4 hour long rides in base and just started build. Longest rides are now low 2 hours for the first few weeks of build (a big step back). TSS for the Bike portion has dropped into the 300s from 500s.

I’m half way through SSB Low Vol II. Opened the app today and found the whole plan scrambled. Should pretend like Week 3 in the new plan is a substitute for Week 3 in the old plan even though everything that came before is different? I wish they had allowed me to finish what I started. What a mess.

I finished SSBHV2 yesterday and am starting Build (high volume) tomorrow with a ramp test. Tried the “update” as you said, and it worked. It has become way easier than what I had before (how do I un-update now???:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:).

Hey Dave,
Please contact support@trainerroad.com. This sounds like it might be related to the Azure cloud outage. The updated plans won’t be automatically applied to anyone’s training plan- you have to opt-in, so if you’re seeing an existing plan scrambled and didn’t click a button to update your plan, something else is afoot. Sorry to hear this happened!

Looking over the Triathlon Plans for the Build cycle. I noticed that the avg time and TSS for Mid Volume is more than the avg time and TSS for High Volume. 6.3 hours vs 6.13 hours and TSS 324 vs 319.

general build high volume looks easier

I deploy into both. Compute is compute. My preference is slightly to azure because the names for their platform offerings are less obtuse. Networking is slightly less awful in AWS and CDK is neat.

Kinda shitty that both AWS and Azure had major outages in the last 3 months though. Guess the answer is ‘Kubernetes and build adapters to any platform services’.

Computers are hard. :man_shrugging:

The text for the century speciality week 7 mid volume seems off.

I see intervals are more spread out over the full 2 hours vs front loaded in first 90min also

@Jonathan Will anyone be planning to touch on what is going on right now? I am planning to finish out the remainder of my 2 weeks of Old Base but it would be nice to get some clarity.

Also may want to take a look at the Bricks for Triathlon plan since I just was comparing plans and there is runs with reference to Pheonix although Pheonix has been replaced.

good news, i welcome the mixup of the rather monotous plans. although: TBLV3 does not look very traditional to me, rather like half way to SSLV

Thanks @mcneese.chad,

Is there a recommended way to transition to the new workouts?

Is it better better us to wait for AT and carry on with our current plans or would it be more beneficial to update so that the ML can establish a baseline with the new plans earlier?

Ill do whatever is most beneficial moving forward. I am about to finish final week of short power build before the mid-block recovery week.

Thanks in advance
David

This is the Way!!! Now I think I can do Mid Volume and don’t burn out seems much more fitted to my needs.
I hope we still get faster, but one thing is clear. SSB II looks much more like Sweetspot focused than Threshold Focus from before.
