New trainer, new ftp test?

Upgraded to a direct drive smart trainer, just wondering if I should do another ftp test, done one sweet spot workout and it maybe felt easier. Or should I just let AT do its thing, nearly at the end ssb2 so am due a test in a couple of weeks

Trainer change = test. I assume you do not use any power meter with power match.

If you feel it measures lower, then your levels will go up and you end up with inflated levels that will cause you to fail workouts after scheduled test in the next phase. So you will miss couple trainings.

Yes, any major change like a different trainer means a new FTP test, IMO.

  • Even if you use PowerMatch and the same power meter, the actual feel and performance of the trainer (specifically flywheel) can lead to different results in an FTP test.
