New to TR and over 60 - suggestions on developing a training plan for the Whiskey 50 in Apr'24

Hi, I am new to TR and trying to figure out the best way to use TR. I see there are some new tools for Masters athletes. I was reading that for XC MTB the recommended training is Base 1, Base 2, Sustained Power Build and Marathon XC specialty.

I wanted to test out the plan builder but am not sure on the best volume. I usually do 1 or 2 structured rides per week and then work in 1 or 2 unstructured rides with friends each week. Rather than create a full plan I was thinking of just doing a 4 weeks Masters base 1 plan to try and dial in volume and recovery. Just wondering if anyone has any lessons learned to get me started on the right track.

I would do plan builder, pick Masters Low volume. If your outside or unstructured rides could replace the endurance ride if you want.

You can always change the volume, plan type, and Master or regular rides on the fly in the calendar. Don’t have the link but it’s easy to do. No reason not to do plan builder because of this.
