Multi day event UK Lands ends to John o groates

Hi, I’m doing a long distance event >860 miles in 8 days in 9 weeks. I’m training but a busy life is getting in the way. I do have a week off with 4 clear weeks afterwards for recovery if required. Any recommendations for a blitz training that week would be appreciated. Thanks

Part of the period should be a few days with consecutive long rides. Basically the sort of ride you expect to do on the LEJOG.

Use them for training and to dial in your position, equipment, nutrition etc.

You’re probably not going to make much difference to your fitness, and using that week as event prep is probably more valuable, unless you already have that experience.

Whatever your first 3 or 4 days are of LEJOG are - replicate that at the start of your week off. Dial in clothing, fit, nutrition, fuelling & hydration, sleep etc etc

The first few days are very hard because they are very hilly, steep uphill and then fast downhill so little time to recover.

I agree with the other advice about doing some back to back days. Maybe make the first couple of days more about spending time in saddle, like 3 hours the first day then 4 hours the next. Then have a day off, then 4 hours and next day 5 hours? Noth8ng too fast, just time in saddle.

Best of luck. It’s on my list…
