If you’re not relying on TR to drive those workouts, though, why not just ignore the progression level entirely?

Yep, that’s what I currently do for the zones I manage myself (Z2/3). I’ll let TR suggest Z4/Z5 workouts and I don’t think having my z2/3 set wrong is causing any issues. I was just just answering the OP’s question as an option to quickly adjust them if needed.
