Low FTP, give me hope

Not using a full stop at the end of a sentence, even after being (back) ticked off!

Such a maverick!

Just recently shared my FTP story. I started with 135
I was also on and off the bike and did pretty good climbs as well as distances. After 2015 things were really going down, i was not stepping up on a scale, my bikes were even rusty; i was traveling 80% of my time with 2 small kids, i was not doing anything for myself. Then with lock down, i started utilizing my travel time in the saddle. Started with zwift, FTP was 135, seriously i was riding 120W with 160 bpm… this was i guess beginning of April.
I noticed zwift is not my thing, i needed something structured, tried TR for a month and it was unbelievable; it is also not just pushing harder all these instructions in training was so useful to me. Aero positions, pedal drills, form drills… i started to feel incredibly confident on my bike.
My weight was 92 Kg and 28.5% body fat.
Today i weigh 81.1 kg With 22.4 body fat, still far from good but a good progress.
FTP first jumped to 185 and then 213 W. According to my garmin, my outdoor rides ranging between 230-250 W, still i have good fuel on tank but i dont deploy it all because i am doing outdoor rides on top of my 6-7 hours indoor rides.

What is more interesting in my case is, i didn’t lose a tiny piece of motivation. I am so looking forward to jump on my bike everyday.

All my life i was thinking all these good riders were blessed, genetically gifted etc :joy:
These dudes are just training mate, some progress faster some slower but they do train.

I would also suggest you to pay special attention to your diet, careful on what you are eating, calorie deficit etc. as Coach Chad rightly says loosing weight and being a faster cyclist is hard to manage.

See the positive side, improving from your ftp level will be much faster, as long as you follow your plans everyday you will feel that difference.

All the best
