Totally. For pawl type feehubs, if pawl engagement is slow so that they don’t engage fully before torque is applied, they can catch on an edge and get damaged or damage the ratchet. I saw this a lot working in a bike shop on freehubs where the pawl lube had dried up or gotten contaminated. I like mine to sound nice and snappy.
