Hey, very nice work!
Any chance you could make the High Def images available for printing?
=D
How do you like the Bespoke R-1?
Feels solid. Good build quality but not perfectly smooth edges (small splinter risk). Easy to level and adjust with a pump. Easy to lug around. Pretty quiet. Been basically zero maintenance since it arrived fully assembled. It doesn’t have fore and aft movement but I’ve never had that and don’t know what I’m missing ![]()
Good deal! Thanks for the info and glad to see another rocker in TR ![]()
Nice “Tail” wind. That’ll wake you up in the morning :).
I know people joke, but if you haven’t tried a rear fan, you really should. The back is a massive surface area that is neglected with nearly every cooling setup I have ever seen. Good flow over the back (with proper alignment considered relative to front fans) can increase cooling greatly. I also find having the fan hit the “rear” helps with saddle comfort and standing efforts are doubly refreshing ![]()
I don’t doubt it. I currently have 2 blower fans on the front, another fan on my legs, and dedicated fan blowing on the Hammer to keep it from having power drop outs on long efforts. I think one more fan and I’ll make a tornado in my garage
.
Fellow audiophile I see… Due to my space I’m almost certainly going to just use a soundbar, but I’m still kicking around the idea of some Miccas mounted on the wall. Donwstairs I’ve got Elacs, but I probably should control myself for the bike room haha. Also, nice Senns on the shelf. ![]()
I have my trainer/fans in the car to go to my parents’ for the weekend (I could just go ride outside but I’m a bit OCD about finishing short power build lol). Anyhow, it’s just reminding me of how much I dislike these cheap foam tiles, they separate easily (I could try taping them together) but the soft foam also makes it easy to leave impressions. Was curious for any recommendations for better quality/more rigid exercise tiles. Maybe I should just get a trainer mat instead
So true. Rear fans are mint.
Julian, what is the computer set up you use? Looks like an apple something and does it drive both screens?
This is a bit of a left turn from a lot of the posts in this thread, and maybe slightly more relevant for Zwift users who need a locked in connection, but:
Do you suffer from poor wifi in your room?
Yes, you could drill ethernet throughout your house, and that’s probably the top solution, but I wanted to share a recent revelation I’ve had with something called MoCA adapters. Essentially, they use your existing coax cable and send ethernet data through the coax. It’s essentially creating a wired coax network through your house. By using an adapter at the origination point (to inject the data) and then an adapter wherever you want hardwired internet, you get a hard connection vs relying on wifi.
That’s a super 30,000ft view of MoCA, so I suggest doing your own research. Here is a really good video that provides a good explanation, better than I did. To get started, you’ll need at least two adapters (about$60USD each,) a “MoCA POE filter” to stop your data leaving your house, and likely a MoCA compatible cable splitter to replace your existing cable splitter somewhere in your house. You’re looking about $150 for a 2 point setup. Apparently doesn’t work if you use satellite tv.
If your cave is upstairs, basement, or otherwise has terrible wifi but a coax jack, it might be worth looking into.
Has there ever been a speaker vs earphone discussion? Just curious as I have always used Bluetooth earphones but have been toying with the idea of speakers recently… any advice?
I personally can concentrate better using the headphones. And of course, the significant other doesn’t complain about my music selections. ![]()
It’s a lot of noise for the speakers to overcome…
I’ve tried both, and killed three sets of headphones with sweat - over ear, in ear and bone conduction - so given up on them! Bluetooth speaker for me. I use the Wonderboom 2, which is plenty of for me over the noise of the turbo (elite direto), but I’m no audiophile, so won’t try and pretend it’s got amazing quality sound.
I have Sonos speakers through the house, including in the paincave. I’ve actually just got a Move to replace the one that’s in there so I can just get Alexa to skip a track if I don’t like what’s playing. Occasionally I use ear buds (Jabra elite 65t or Skullcandy Indy true wireless) but usually prefer the speaker.
