JOIN cycling app

Thanks! Worked like a charm.

I manually added it but then later it synced with Strava and I added it again because I thought it would auto delete the first one.

I was just thinking the other day it’d be nice if JOIN had direct integration with Wahoo instead of having to flow through Strava…

Also curious how much faster the syncing is and if there is actually a difference.

How far ahead are some of you of their Join plans? I’m at 91% and still 35 days to go. What happens if you get to 100%? I’m wondering if it’d be better to just start a new plan?

Also, has anyone had an FTP increase, and was it in line with Join’s predicted FTP? Join was promising me a 15W increase, which I somewhat doubted, so I retested, and yep, nothing like that. I did get a 3W increase, so now at least I don’t have to round up anymore.

I used it for the last three months since I do a lot of unscheduled rides: My FTP increase with the 20min test from Join was as predicted. But I am probably more of a beginner than you (~2years of cycling), so more progress to be made.

I am going to hit 100% today with days left. Will report back.

I got past 100% on my last plan and it kept on giving me sessions and increasing the percentage above 100. I kept going rather than switching to a new plan because I wanted to start the new one when I got back from a cycling holiday rather than starting it before and going way off plan!

Probably because it was set up to finish with an event, and was then done?

I’m on the FTP plan, which is 90 days. After only 55 days, I’m over 90% “progress”, so was wondering what would happen after 100%. I guess as you reached the max duration on the plan, it just finished. I’d expect the same to happen for me in 35 days, but was wondering what’ll happen to “progress”, as its surely going to be over 100% before that. Seems like it’ll just keep increasing as before.

I was on the FTP plan when I went past 100

Did you get the predicted FTP increase? Or did you not test, because you went on holiday?

Very early on in this thread, someone worked out Join’s model for FTP increase. Just curious if it is working for anyone.

I just scheduled one because I was curious to see if the prediction was true. Alas, it wasn’t, ahah.

I got a small increase but not what it predicted which I thought was optimistic based on what I know about my training - I’d worked with a coach for 3 years before this and would have been surprised if it had increased my FTP by more than individual coaching did - I’m using join this year because I want a lower key year rather than being ultra focussed on training, so my expectations are realistic!

After being stagant for years, with a FTP for 250-255 using TR, I’m happy with the improvents I am getting from Join, loving the AI (was ill, tonned down the workouts after a 5 day rest period, just clearing a block in my calender, and giving me a hard workout to get back into it)

I think the increase is mainly due to getting freedom to ride more, and enjoying my riding, rather than giving up riding to comply to the training plan … but that is probably just me, got a UCI race in 2 weeks and then longest race ever, in my bucket list location and feeling confident

May or may not be interesting to others but as I expected Wahoo RGT activities also sync to JOIN when JOIN is connected to Wahoo - despite it using the ELEMNT language.

My Zwift activities get into Join via Strava, does the same not happen for RGT (thinking about giving up Zwift as well)

I’m assuming this means it automatically eliminates the final vowel in all words across the RGT interface.

Anything that goes into Strava will eventually get picked up by JOIN. JOIN recently added direct Wahoo integration, though, and it’s stated as being for ELEMNT bike computers. This isn’t accurate, as it includes RGT as well.

I’ve personally be trying to reduce my dependence on Strava just in case so been trying to use direct integrations when possible.

@FergusYL Ha.

I’ve noticed that my workouts now have a link to “view in Garmin Connect”. Pretty sure it used to be “view on Strava”. Maybe they are trying to reduce dependence on Strava too?

It wouldn’t surprise me. Other platforms already went down that route or continue to, I vaguely recall one even saying that Strava should be a last resort due to reliability.

Ahh makes sense, I got the wrong end of the stick  cheers

I’ve tried it, can’t say that I am in a hurry to use it again, it covers the basics and is a good first attempt (one click ERG mode change which is nice)

Next intervals is swipe up

I am subscribed to TrainerDay (£40 a year) so send my workout to TrainingPeaks then play it in that (or Zwift), I don’t see anything wrong with the Join Player, just it’s a little first attempt
