Is hanging a bike like this ok?

I read some interesting things about suspension position and oil movement/seal soaking or drying.

I’m not buying it really when you can buy forks, or shocks, that are oriented all sorts of angles and orientations.

I hang my road bike fork up because its easier when wheeling it into the garage.

Plus I can easily charge my front light with my 6’ USB cable, and not have to move the charger or buy a 10’ cable.

One hand on top tube, one hand on down tube, lift and rotate. Handlebars behave since the front wheel hangs down. Super easy. Useful when you have wall space and limited room away from the wall.

Ive been using SteadyRacks for my bikes for the better part of 5 years. Ive yet to have a air issue in my brakes. If theres air in your system, it doesnt matter if its in your caliper, line or lever…its a problem regardless and the way you store your bike isnt going to fix it or make it worse. The problem isnt the way the bike is stored, the problem is the way the bike is maintained.

Another arguement I always hear is it stresses your headset bearings. Im on my original bearings on my 19 Aeroad and theyre still silky smooth, and just replaced my headset bearings on my MTB, only because they were dirty, theyre cheap and I was pulling it apart to put a new fork on so there was no reason not to.

Forgot the damage to the wheels :joy:

I hang all 4 of my bikes upside down. All 4 are disk brakes. Haven’t had an issue in 4 years of hanging them this way. Maybe the theory says not to hang bike upside down, but in practice it hasn’t been an issue for me.

I feel like the air issue is a problem that one person said on YouTube or a podcast and everyone repeats it like its the gospel! Up there with “sram drivetrains steal your watts” bc the small cog is 10 tooth vs 11 on shimano

Ekar 9 tooth cog left the chat

AAAAHHHH THE FRIKSHUN!

Haha this is getting off topic quick! My bad!

I also hang my bike with disk brakes like this. No issues for me over 3 years. Current bike has Ekar hydraulic. Since it is a closed system, I think it would be pretty safe to do so. Curious if anyone has ever had a problem.

And I tell myself I’m just getting stronger by adding friction when I’m mashing the 9-tooth cog
