Someone on reddit yesterday, I did a 45min 40k at 235 W and said is this any good?
It must’ve been the tailwind from his Lasko.
Based on my previous experience with calibrating a treadmill run on my Garmin watch, you’ll want to have the Ironman VR linked to your Garmin account and not to Strava if your Garmin is connected to Strava. I’ve found the calibrated distance for the treadmill run is not the distance that gets sent over to Strava, which instead receives the pre-calibrated distance.
FYI Strava isn’t synching any more because Sport Heroes don’t know how to architect applications or ensure privacy. DC Rainmaker has a summary.
If you’re still happy giving your data to Sport Heroes, just use a different method - Garmin etc.
So am I good to put in a manually calibrated treadmill run from my Garmin watch for these VR “races,” or does a treadmill only apply for these if it is newer than mine and syncs run data via bluetooth/ant+? I see a manually calibrated treadmill run was sent across w/ correct stats after I synced my Garmin account yesterday. I really wasn’t planning to go outside yet since I’m easing back into training since being sick, esp. w/ rain in the forecast this Saturday…
There’s no requirement for calibration at all if that’s the relevant point? If you can get the data across (treadmill or otherwise) and it’s not crazy you should be fine.
Thanks. I end up calibrating for every treadmill run, otherwise the watch records some incorrect distance based on whatever my pace was for the previous treadmill run as far as I can tell… just trying to keep it accurate. Sprint distance this weekend looks perfect for coming back from a 2+ week illness break.
this also happened to me, just now, finished a 40km bike for the IMVR 13 via Zwift. Activity was recorded but there is no progress in the race ![]()
Have you synched data from zwift before, via garmin?
Did you register for the classic or pro challenge bersion of VR13 before doing the zwift effort?
