New update - even cheaper option available for pre-order for delivery in the March timeframe. Seems that they are going to offer a stainless version for less as well as a titanium version. They are taking pre-orders for the single sided stainless version for €119 + shipping. A few IGG people are a bit upset that a cheaper version is undercutting the IGG version but the trade off is Ti versus SS
In recent weeks, we have concluded that using titanium adapters in production is proving to be a little bit challenging. There are two reasons for this: 1) titanium is literally tougher material to process, and therefore more expensive to manufacture and 2) there are only a few parties who actually know how to do this accurately. The good news? iQsquare is already working with these able partners. The bad news? When pre-sales turn into regular retail around Spring 2019, we run a giant risk of enormous waiting lists and higher costs. That would be the end of our promise to produce ‘affordable’ power meters –> not good.
So, we got together with a number of our manufacturing partners and discussed the issue at length.
Together we’ve decided to start producing two power meter versions from March 2019 onwards: 1) a premium version created with titanium and 2) a regular version created with stainless steel . We won’t stop producing our titanium power meters and everyone on Kickstarter and Indiegogo will obviously receive theirs as ordered. They are much lighter, tougher and more valuable than their stainless steel counterpart. But… this way we can keep the price down for every cyclist who simply wants a working product once regular retail begins. Stainless steel power meters are therefore part of our new online shop and you can find them + prices here.
At that price, I think it’s worth the gamble but by the looks of it, they should be able to make a reasonable go of it.
BTW, I just re-read the email I received (I’m a backer on IGG with no other affiliation other than I hope they can make this work acceptably) that it may be a limited time offer for the €119 price
I just ordered mine for 119 Euro plus the shipping cost of 20 euro. It’s a pretty good deal. I would have rather bought a 4iiii because their headquarters is in my town. But I really don’t want to spend 500 Canadian. So I’m looking forward to get this toy. I’m going to install it on my mountain bike.
With IQ2 on a mountain bike, won’t the Q factor become huge and affect your knee health as well as efficiency? Not talking about aerodynamics when it comes to mountain bikes…
Q-factor is a hotly debated subject. It might make a difference to some and none to others. Some are almost religious about it, some just follow what they read on internet without ever getting a bike fit. Wider might be actually beneficial for some.
I fall into the I know what it is but don’t pay any attention to it. It’s different on each of my bikes and my knees aren’t any worse off for it.
I’m not too worried about the q factor because I ride a fat bike in the winter where the q factor is really exaggerated. In 3 years of riding that bike I have never developed knee problems. According to DC Rainmaker there is no correlation. But different length cranks on the same bike has some type of correlation to injury. I was going to buy an XT left crank from stages on a really good blow out deal ($99!), and the customer service rep at stages talked me out of it even though it was a 5mm difference. The left crank was 165mm and I ride on all my mountain bikes a 170mm. I’m attaching a photo of my q factor of my fat bike so you get an idea how wide it is. Like I said before I would have rather gotten a 4iiii because I own one and trust the reliability of it. The IQ 2 is handy because I can switch it to my fat bike during the winter. At least I hope it will work in a Canadian winter!
I wonder what will be the weight of the SS version?
The TI version weight is 2 x 30g. If the plastic parts, electronics etc. are 2 x 10g, then the metal parts are 2 x 20 g. I think SS is double the weight of TI, so the weight would be 2 x 40 g, making the total weight of 100 g for SS version. Not super heavy, but still some extra weight.
" Ok, here’s the latest delivery news –> we’re shipping the first batch in February.
As you know from a previous update, there was a delay because of the alternative component placement on the Printed Circuit Board (PCB). Somehow, the company producing the PCBs (after successful adaptations) didn’t deliver to our assembly partner in The Netherlands on time. iQsquare therefore missed the December production slot at our partner’s assembly factory. Not cool and very frustrating for all parties involved.
We were told over Christmas by our assembly partner to wait until their new production schedule comes out, which took place yesterday in the afternoon. They told us that our components are being soldered this week (today in fact), but that the testing and visual checks are scheduled for the end of January, after which we will start assembly and shipping. We are at the mercy of their time slots, which are usually filled up 6 to 8 weeks in advance. Regrettably, we cannot force ourselves into our partner’s schedule; their timelines are rigid."
I have a feeling that they’re struggling to get it working consistently. They’ve had they’re first production runs for some time now and still no data has been given
I wrote to them to inquire whether they were able to project delivery time for folks and go this back:

Thank you for the support and interest. As of the moment, we have already concluded our crowdfunding campaign and have entered the late stages of production. All of the power meters ordered through our webshop are expected to be delivered as early as March of 2019 onward. Those who backed us at Kickstarter and Indiegogo will have theirs delivered as early as February 2019.
At this moment though we do not have a list of the batches of power meters to be delivered in order.
Hmmmm so they’re going to be able to start to supply some in February. That’s two weeks time. Yet still nothing in the way of Real data or 3rd party functional trials.
Thanks for the update. I haven’t received any info via email. I’m looking forward to getting this metre on my mountain bike. Hopefully they remember my order!
Looks like they have their iOS app approved to go into the Apple App Store and they say they are on track to start shipping in February. From update #20:

Just a quick update to let you all know we’ve been accepted to publish our app in the Apple store. As some backers rightfully noted, these things take a while. We also just received confirmation that our Android version should be accepted next week. We’ll let you know when we go live!
I kind of doubt it, it doen’t seem to be their MO. I get the impression that IQ2 is attempting the very difficult 1 cycle production run so every is done on prototypes and hope they get it all right for production the first time. If it works, it saves money but you have to be near perfect going into production.
