The TR mobile app is not meant of āoutsideā use. It does not capture GPs data. You will need to run another GPS enabled app (like Strava or Wahoo activity apps) in the phone (in parallel to the TR app) if you want that info.
But the more common solution is a dedicated GPS bike head unit like a Garmin or Wahoo.
I know but i donāt own a Garmin headunit (yet) :).
Iāve got a Vivoactive 3 and i can push the workout to that unit. Unfortunately i canāt connect my power meter to itā¦
Guess i have to work with the TR app for now until i have a Edge 530
Hi Colin. You might want to try making workouts using ergdb.org. It is VERY quick and easy. You do have to upload them by using a micro USB cable, but they stay on the device indefinitely, so you can easily use them again later.
I realize this might very soon be obsolete, as it does look like TR/Wahoo integration is very closeā¦
Yea, I was just about to set things up using ergdb until I saw the Wahoo announcement, so frankly Iāve been lazy and just waiting all summer But Iām still really glad that someone opened up the Wahoo device for us for the long-term.
Honestly, it was the biggest disappointment I had with the Bolt when I realized how complicated it was to setup an outdoor workout. But the feature works so well once you do load it - I couldnāt ask for more. And I wouldnāt trade the stability of the Bolt for the Garmin 520 headaches so many friends had. Have used it for thousands of miles and never a lost or dropped ride, nonsense data, or a dead battery - it just works all the time, and with Varia support added, I have no motivation to risk a 530. Maybe a ROAM when the price comes inline with the rest of the market!
On wahoo, you can set it to always ignore segments while running a workout, or if not, it will just pop up on bottom like normal, and segment screen will be available if you want to see it.
