Initial FTP on TR much lower than Zwift

My FTP on zwift is 245 (it was increased by zwift after some races). I started TR today (registered but no exercise yet) and it believes my FTP is 185. Surely something is wrong!? TR is connected to Zwift and Strava.

That looks like the standard onboarding FTP - I think you need at least 10x TR rides before using AI FTP - if you are pretty sure of your FTP then manually enter it to get you started. Or do a ramp test.

Will AI FTP Detection detect my FTP if I’ve never used TrainerRoad?

AI FTP Detection requires 10 completed indoor TrainerRoad workouts to begin detecting your FTP. Once you reach this minimum, you don’t need to do any additional TrainerRoad workouts. By enabling RideSync, you can import rides with power data from other services and continue detecting your FTP.

Aah cheers. Thanks. I’m pretty sure zwift is accurate as I looked at the power graphs for the couple of races that boosted my FTP. I’d got a ramp test lined up for Saturday but…. Miiiiiiiiggghhhhhtttt jusssst delete that  (God I hate FTP tests :rofl::rofl:)

Yeah if I were you I’d just manually enter it and let AI FTP fine tune it if necessary :+1:

I feel like you should have gotten a better FTP to start off with than this..

I’ll dig into this with the team, but for now, I’d agree that using your Zwift FTP is a good place to start.

Zwift can over-estimate your FTP as (unless it has changed) it just takes 95% of your best 20 minute power. This works better for some people than others.

Thanks, those zwift/TR ftp figs were from memory … may be a watt or two out.

I just checked the zwift vs TR vs riduck vs intervals estimated ftps:

336–>339–>329–>338

I assume you are pro TR

Teacher to their students: That is how you do a backdoor brag!

Ha! I guess it does kind of read that way, doesn’t it. I swear I was just sharing to show how close they can all be to one another and that your FTP most likely falls somewhere within the range of all the estimates from the different platforms. @kevistraining what’s make you think that

ok zwift ftp 244w. ( i know it seems low but i’m a petite climber, or at least that is what I self ID as  )

I’m actually not seeing an FTP of 185 anywhere.

Where did this pop up for you?

Is your 244 FTP working well for you?

I think it was the AI FTP which I then deleted. Marion workout (with FTP set to 244) was very tough and I didn’t complete it, but I think I’m under the weather as couldn’t even cycle for 2 mins in zone 2 the day before.

I didn’t see it in your deleted FTPs either.

You’ll definitely need to ensure that you’re recovered before testing again.

Maybe I misremembered the exact figure… just know it was a lot less than the Zwift figure

I’ll keep training and when fully fit have another go at Marion and/or a ramp test
