Incomplete Workouts with Adaptive Training

Couldn’t find a clear answer to this so I figure the TR community would know. I am using Adaptive Training. I had a a 1hr ride on the schedule but due to life time constraints I was only able to complete 29min of the workout, otherwise I would’ve been able to complete it.

My question is how does Adaptive Training take this into account when adapting my training plan. Does it count it as a “failed workout” or a “skipped workout” or how exactly does Adaptive Training take it into consideration for future workouts?

Here’s the link to the workout for reference: Log In to TrainerRoad

I can’t see your calendar to see what type of workout it is but your PL won’t increase having not done it and if you skip enough workouts of that type your PL will degrade and cause your plan. Thats longer term though, I’m not sure how TR will adapt in the short term.

Hey @andrewbautista91

In this case, because your workout was completed outside and the ride file got matched to the TR Workout, you got full credit for towards your Endurance Progression Level.

Had you completed the same TR Workout Indoors and only done 29mins it would have probably been labeled as a cut-short and wouldn’t have gotten the full credit.

When matching Outside workouts the system assumes you completed that workout, whereas when completing the workout inside, the system has the ability to detect whether you cut it short, had trouble reaching power targets, had power drops, etc…

Note: You can mark the outside ride as a “I Did Not Pass” on the Post Workout Survey

Thank you for the clarification. I actually did the ride on Zwift. In the past I would do workouts in TR and if I did not complete the workout, a cut short survey would popup. But since I was in Zwift, I went back and filled out the survey and said I did not pass. I didn’t see “time constraint” as a selectable option so I just put other and said in the textbox time constraint. Just want to be sure I was inputting in the right data after my ride. Thanks again for your response.

Yes! That would be the correct way to do it in this case
