How to Cut Body Fat and Raise FTP, VO2 Kinetics, Adaptation Signaling & More | Ask a Cycling Coach 558

With this athlete having a 3.0 w/kg and below 250w FTP on a course that challenging, going out hard at the beginning of the race would mess up the rest of the day. If the race were shorter and/or on a less demanding course, that would be different.

Their race strategy wasn’t to win, so instead an athlete should focus on how to get the most out of themselves on the day, and leaning into the strength of punchy sprint power will only make it so they blow up early, often, and perhaps end their day prematurely.

I am really enjoying this podcast (haven’t quite finished it yet). A nice range of athletes, abilities, and questions :+1:

Thinking back on this one, if Mr Lee would have done the same podcast but old school with the round table, laptops and Nate from the TR HQ.
So same pod but with the back and forth between the CEO and Mr Lee oh man that would have been👌

I think we all miss the OG podcast.

I believe Nate doesn’t even ride anymore so I’m not sure how relevant his input is at this point.

Yeah, he only seems to pop up when there’s a new feature to discuss. Which is totally fine, not many other CEO’s are doing podcasts for their companies.

He still trains, I think at least once per week. He just posted a SS ride on Strava today.
