My recent personal experience:
I was in very good (for me) form late winter / early spring of this year, with eFTP consistently in the 365-370W range on maximal efforts on my trainer. My weekly TSS was typically 700-800 in the months preceding this fitness, which didn’t include my twice weekly strength work.
A series of issues caused decreased training, motivation, and declining overall health for about 3 months and almost zero strength work, with weekly TSS usually in the 500-650 range. Around the time when fitness stopped going down and started coming back up again, I did another maximal trainer effort, with an eFTP of 338W.
