I don’t understand it, the last time I did Cloudripper it was Very Hard. I remember it wiping me out for the day. I just got through with it this time – 26W higher than previous and only had to rate it Hard …and I feel great! WTH??? What am I doing wrong??? Everytime I stick very very closely to the plan/nutrition/recovery the watts seem to keep going up???
Only 6 days left and unfortunately it looks like I might be slapped with another 2.2% bump up
I’ve got a similar conundrum. I’ve got one endurance, one tempo, and one sweet spot before an increase. Coming back from time off, so guess the Sweet Spot will be very hard and the prediction will drop. Other wise it will be a 0.7% increase with 2.5 weeks off the bike followed by 2.5 weeks back. Got an increase after the first half week off. Apparently the AI likes walks around the neighborhood.
16 days off the bike for Hernia. But lots of walking for 2 weeks. 6 easy rides. 2 Tempo rides. And TR really believes in me. Tallac +1 tomorrow and an increase. Guessing it will be very hard
Can’t hurt! I don’t recall losing any predicted watts unless I have switched out a workout or graded the effort higher than the AI thinks it should be. Mine actually went up 2w yesterday after my first vo2max workout, which kind of surprised my since my prediction is tomorrow - I wouldn’t think it would move especially since the RPE was in line what it predicted.
Are you using HR? I don’t, so wondering if the predication jumps around more with that variable.
I’m going to speak too soon (4 days left) but as it stands, the prediction has nudged up beyond the original and stayed up. Sadly I can’t quite remember what was tweaked but have not changed anything significant.
Apr predicted = 289, Actual should be 293 with 0 workouts remaining in 2 days.
50 year old 66.5kg with subarachnoid brain hemorrhage june 25 from fall. 5 months Z1/Z2 and return to intervals coincided with the release in dec 25.
Cant believe I got back to this level as struggled to even walk for a month after it, so happy.
I take the AIFTP with a grain of salt. But I feel great and the entire system really does live up to the perfect workout everytime claim for me, its like magic.
Yes, I use an HRM chest strap. I’m not bothered, I’m posting here for fun really. It is a bit disappointing I suppose, just because there’s the promise of 265W in the first place and I wanted to hit 260.
It’s distracting me from my other goals so I’m likely to switch to Masters and hide the prediction in a couple of weeks.
Thanks! I’m mostly happy with the weight loss to be honest. I’m hoping to get down to 63kg and be near my old racing weight. I’ll never be at the power compared to when I was in my 30s though!
Starting Predicted FTP: 295 after I blocked out time for surgery and had my initial return to training be a little more conservative then I executed.
Final Predicted FTP: 300 after I changed a weekend to two 90 minute Endurance rides from 90 and 45 and increased the duration of Tempo a ride to 60 minute from 45 and a sweet spot and tempo to 75 minutes from 60 minutes. Held steady after those changes.
Feels pretty optimistic and I’ll probably swap out 2 workouts to Zwift races if the changes keep me over 310. My goal for the month is 310. A Race is mid-July.
I honestly would like to know how the system comes up with these predictions. The age of the athlete has to matter. I’m almost 51, and not super lean at 64.8kg - this would put me at 5.05 w/kg with still room to drop body fat.
Do you not have your birthdate entered in your account settings? TR should know your age. Not entirely sure how that might be taken into consideration to be fair - I haven’t heard anyone talk about it - but I’d be surprised if it doesn’t factor at all.
Genetics is a huge factor as well though and there’s no real way to account for that. I am fortunate to have pretty good genetics for this kind of training and my body is responding well. I’m only a year old than you and have a 326 predicted for May 1 from this morning’s 318. Again, as we know, “FTP” is a bit of a misnomer now but my watts reflect this trajectory.
