Highest % of FTP actually ridden at?

Thanks for the correction.

You’re welcome.

While I am at it: lots of errors/misattributions in that article. For example, despite what is stated the demonstration of a plateau in VO2 during an incremental exercise test long predates Dave Bassett* and Ed Howley.

*Trivia: Although Dave was a runner, his son (Steven) is a domestic pro cyclist.

There it is, for the 1 hour section ~328 (326 if you leave off the starting sprint).

AI ftp is 334.

xert says my ‘threshold’ is 330, and my one hour power is 326.

Strava just takes the easy route and used my one hour power and says my ftp is 327. Yesterday it was 308.

Zwift considered my ftp to be 327 based upon races and such.

I wouldn’t call myself the freshest today, I went erg mode because I couldn’t get the powermatch to be friendly on zwift, and with the terrain and lack of power tracking I just became frustrated after a few false starts. I started at 330, for the first 20 minutes, then 335 for the second , and had an ‘aspirational’ 340 in for the last 20. However it became clear in the final minutes of the second block (the 40 minute mark) I was not going to make it if I kept that pace. I dropped the power back down to 330, and then dropped it further down to 320 I think. in the last 10 minutes it was clear I wasn’t going to make it at that power, I think I ended on 315.

The gap between 334 and 325 for tte is pretty big, though on a pure percentage basis isn’t that dramatic . I guess it goes to show what a difference ~3% can make.

Anyway. just a bit of fun to finish the year. Haha.

(edit to add, yes the hr data is totally garbage…stupid tickr kept jumping up and down and yes it was frustrating to watch it bounce around. I know/knew my typical heart rate by feel pretty well and I had a good sense of what the real data should look like. But those are the sorts of things that can get in your head. Also… I had the ‘suffer’ effect on the zwift interval blocks. I don’t know about anyone else but that that blur effect has a real effect on the psyche…haha. Makes you feel tired. I’m so glad when the block ends and I get back to clear vision. Don’t discount the mental impact of things on a 60 minute threshold. )

I’m one of those weird people who goes through all the settings and options before doing stuff.

That option was turned off before I pedalled my first revolution on Zwift.

I somehow envy people who can make those efforts themselves (like you) on Turbo.

I suffer to do 2x20 @85%. I don’t suffer a lot, but it’s not pleasant, and I don’t feel I’m ok.

On the real road, I can put 1 hour straight without complications, and I feel ok/good.

Before one asks, yes same Favero Assioma PM. It’s just riding indoors, I’m not a huge fan.

A huge fan could be the answer to making the turbo more enjoyable
