Help a picky eater fix his diet

Wonder if something like this would be beneficial for me… BPN Strong Greens

I’d recommend finding a way to get vegetables into your diet in a whole form if possible. Soups, salads, baked in a casserole, steamed, sautéed, whatever form you can manage it.

I did try a bucket of the Orgain protein powder & greens mix once, and for a person that likes most vegetables, that was not very good tasting and definitely the least favorite of the three different formulations they make. But heck, you can try something like what you’ve linked and see if it’s any more palatable. I just think that straight food is better for your body than any of these processed options.

I agree straight food would be better. I have been trying to do a straight kale smoothie at least once a day but thought this might be another route to get more green stuff in me. Plus I can slam down a nasty drink way easier than trying to chew something I don’t like.

Consider talking to a specialist too. As an adult, a diversified diet shouldn’t be a challenge. I think there’s something deeper at play, (you allude to this). Don’t downplay it, you may have a real disorder that would require more than just “try different foods” - if it was that easy you wouldn’t have had this much trouble.

Most of us transition out of eating crap by our mid 20s - I found food I couldn’t tolerate to be very enjoyable later in life. I’m 41 and am still adding things that I’ll now eat that I wouldn’t even just a few years ago. I think your situation is different, as you describe food as a “have to” and not a “want to” (at least vegetables)

The more time away from fast food the less you’ll want it too. Like cigarettes. Good luck.

You can’t control the choices available to you at work…but at home? You’re in your 30’s (still???), who’s buying your groceries?

Even with that said, nobody is making you eat the bad food choices at work either.

I sincerely apologize if I am coming across sounding like a jerk, but you hit the nail on the head with “choices”, they are yours and yours alone to own and control.

Hey

A lot of good advice in the previous posts. You have alot to pick and choose from there. I was in a very similar situation as you and I can only tell you what worked for me.

  1. I did a plan in years. I sorted little by little with small victories. Any drastic change won’t stick. Take your time.

2.I don’t ever let myself be hungry. EVER! Small meals/snaks but this helps me control my appetite and I can choose what I eat instead of eating the first thing in front of me.

  1. I don’t have any temptation food near me. When I’m with the craves I’ll eat something (point 2) but it’s always healthier than the original craving. I don’t go to the grocery stores, I use home delivery. Saves me time and goi g shopping, specially starving, is a bad idea for me.

Again, point 2 is the deal breaker for me. To the ridiculous of being Invited for dinner/lunch at some friends house and have a meal just before leaving home. Why? Because I’m in control of the situation.

Finally you need to enjoy what you eat if not… life just sucks!

Good luck with your journey!
