Garmin Varia mount angle

I love my retro I-beam saddle but it does make attaching stuff awkward. I’ve found a 3d printed mount for the topeak mount.

My saddle probably is a bit nose down (feel like I slide forward when on the rivet) but I’m looking for other uses advice on the angle, is it too upwards? Is there a good operating range? I had a Google but nothing definite. On my other bike it’s tilting the other way from vertical so my assumption is that it’s golden.

Yes, that is less than ideal angle for the Varia, particularly so with such a high mounting point.
Ideal is with the long surface of the face to be perfectly vertical vs the flat ground.
There is surely a range of function, but I’d never chose that as anything other than a compromise result.

I did think it was a bit too off initially, and then decided it was ok. Will adjust saddle and if still upwards go back to the normal mount.

Was more a 3d printing experiment!

What’s wrong with using the og mount for the seatpost?

Iwould not recommend adjusting your saddle tilt just to get a better angle for your Varia. You did note that it was perhaps a bit too nose-down, so if adjusting it is for better fit, and the improved Varia angle is a secondary benefit, then absolutely do that.

But don’t adjust your saddle simply for the Varia…just find a better mount.

Definitely not adjusting for radar, more I really should have adjusted a while ago after fitting new bars but it wasn’t bad so didn’t bother!

Laziness overcame the fun of fiddling with bikes!
