I have been doing a training plan for the past 7 weeks. I just did a scheduled Ramp Test this morning and my FTP increased 28% (175 to 224). However, my Progression Levels for Vo2 Max and Threshold both decreased from 8.6 to 4.3 and 8.5 to 3.3, respectively. Is this because the Ramp Test is a shorter workout?
No, it’s because your new FTP means that if you did last week’s workouts this week you’d find them really hard.
So, TR changes your PLs to give you appropriate workouts going forward. ![]()

If you accepted the FTP increase, progressions levels go down. The progression levels are tied to your progression at a certain FTP. If you increase your FTP, they will be lower at your new higher FTP.
