Yep, add a little maltodextrin and you’re probably good to go. Malto + some sugar could work too.
FYI: Sugar is not as sweet as people think, and the flavor intensity is virtually zero. Folks often assume “sweet” = high flavor intensity. The thing that Skratch does well is keep the flavor intensity low. Adding sugar won’t increase that. Might be worth trying as a taste test because adding sugar to Skratch is probably more optimal than adding malto. (or combine the two)
I guess I can’t whine about it if I don’t try it
thank you for the input!

Bumping again, as this seems the best thread to my question.
@Dr_Alex_Harrison if I could pick your brain some more on this topic. You mentioned “urine production later”. How much later? Later that night, while you’re asleep?
I’m a fan of Skratch products. I know that even on the trainer, I need some electrolytes to make sure I don’t end up fried after the workout. Recently, I’ve been playing with the water:Skratch ratio, upping the Skratch to get more carbs. What I’ve noticed is that later that night, my need to urinate increases and can make for a rough nights sleep. I finish my workout at noon and I’m urinating frequently that night, but not necessarily before.
I’m suspect that I shouldn’t fuss with the ratio and instead just add other carbs.
The question: Could overdoing my Skratch mix lead to excessive urination many hours later, due to the sodium?
Yes possibly, but it’s really because of the thirst that that sodium causes. You probably drink a bit more throughout the day, then end up letting go of that water later. The effect you’re describing could also happen without added drinking later, but to a lesser degree.
Yes, you could just add sugar to Skratch. Don’t tell Dr. Lim.
