I also got a new creature in May, after my lovely cat died in January. The kitten is now 11 months old and an absolute maniac. I still feel sad about my wonderful old lady, but it’s great to have energetic young cat around.

I’m in healthcare and have had many patients come in looking depressed over the death of a pet. Numerous ones have admitted they cried more at the death of their beloved dog than they did for family members. For many of us, our pets are family to us, and because of the unconditional love they provide, they are some of our favorite family members.
I’m sorry for your loss. Nothing wrong with taking the time to grieve.
