Here in the UK some of us are having unseasonably warm weather … I have just failed a VO2 workour due to it being 40 degrees c in my garage (with 2 fans on!).
Yikes! ![]()
I’d stay out of a 40° garage, and there’s no way I’d be doing VO2 workouts inside at those temperatures. That could actually be dangerous, so please be careful. Are you hydrating enough?
Regardless, I’ll let the team know that “heat” could be a good option in the struggle surveys. ![]()
I had a litre of water before and another during. I did 55 mins instead of 90. My FTP prediction for a few days time immediately dropped by 4w ![]()

Well, your FTP likely is lower at 40°C than at 10° or 20°. That’s the hard part of summer weather. We simply can’t perform the same. ![]()
I guess it just feels too much of a drop, especially bearing in mind the recent podcast: skip one hard workout every month, drop 5w by end of year. I skipped half a workout, and dropped 4w immediately.
Can’t you mark it as not to be used for FTP calculations?
It might be good option not only for failed workouts or struggles, but to account heat training. Like endurance in the heat. Not sure AI feel about higher HR on z1-2 rises in heat
Another vote for heat please
I’m also in the UK and only managed half of the workout yesterday evening. My predicted FTP in 2 weeks dropped 6w.
Welcome to Texas.
Maybe time for a Polar cool flow arctic chiller vest
Is that function available?

Yesterday, I used Other and put “Heatwave” for the text !
Wonderful, thank you. I unticked the AI box … and my FTP detection went back up by 3w. Much better!
I didn’t know that existed. I do like that TR sort of tucks that feature away as I just want to setup my schedule, do the workouts, and let TR adjust along the way. If fail a workout due to something like heat and lowers my predicted ftp a bit hopefully it readjusts as I complete workouts under normal conditions
You guys are mad doing workouts indoors when the weather so nice in the UK.

Hard hill reps under this sun, with no shade, no wind?
The best accessory I’ve had in recent years for indoor training was a portable A/C! Way cheaper than a smart trainer and if you pick one up after summer, it’s going to be like $50 used.
In the UK we don’t get the heat often enough (yet!) to warrant investment in all the cooling technology. During the current UK heatwave it is often better to get out early and find a hill for repeats before the day warms up. You get free cooling on the descents, then go again.
If you live in a newer build flat they can be a sauna half the year. I’ve been running air con since mid April just due to the heat from the sun.
I’ve just failed my second workout this week due to the heat. I’ve got two powerful fans but they still can’t cool me down enough. My face is a bright red/purple!
It’s kinda like unintentional heat training![]()
