Favero Assioma Users

I’ve had issues using the Look Keo Grips, wouldn’t clip in, grabbed some standard Look Keo cleats and I found I have to twist my foot into the cleat to get them to clip in, not a massive issue as these are on my Tri shoes and they stay on the bike for the whole race. Whereas I’ve got the standard Xpedo cleats on my road shoes and they don’t have that extra step.

I filed the ticket. Very helpful service rep… Favero is keeping the ticket open in case I have any issues again.

I’ve contacted them a couple of times, once with general correspondence, the other with a question and while it took a couple of days to get back with me they were quite helpful.

Hey all.

I took the plunge after years of not following through and order the Uno’s.
This thread is full of great information so thanks to all who contributed.

I plan swapping the pedals between my turbo / summer bike and winter bike at least once a week.
Can anyone suggest a good lube / grease to use so as they do not seize or what not.
Sorry for the noob question.

Thanks in advance,

I ordered a pair of the duos yesterday on the back of reading this thread as well as reading the reviews from GPLama and DC Rainmaker. Looking forward to testing them out.

Finish Line with Teflon is my go to. If you’re swapping weekly, you’ll have no issues with them seizing.

I’ve browsed the thread and saw some discussion, but, no direct answer to this question: I swap the DUOs between a geared bike w/ 175 cranks and a fixed gear bike w/ 170 cranks. I’ve been changing the crank length in the Assioma app every time, but, reading a few posts above, it looks like whatever the value I set in the Wahoo head unit overrides the value? So, I’ve been riding about 3% harder than what’s represented?

Also got that information before i started to use Favero. So i make sure I change the cracklenght before calibration in my garmin. The headunit goes before the app

BMAC615: yup, the setting in the heat unit overrides the setting in the assioma app.
Underestimate crank length, underestimate power. And conversely

they do remind you of that on the app, too
Still, ouch-y… and well done, i suppose :+1:

No biggie. It’s just my Z2 rides on the fixie and only 6 watts.

I get that, just thought going into the pedals after setting the computer would override the computer. The wording makes it sound like you only need to make the change in the pedals IF you can’t make it in the computer, which, I figured I’d just do it in the pedals INSTEAD of in the computer because there isn’t a bike profile in the ELEMNT.

Does anybody know if you can zero the pedals using an Elemnt Bolt? I’ve always just used my phone, but it’s a pain on race day or when the pedals turn off after a break.

Yes you can, when you enter the sensor section and then assioma you can do 0 offset.

Awesome. Thank you!

Well, after 4-5 months of trouble free “calibrate and forget” use of my Duos, I have had two power dropout issues this past week.

Here’s what I sent in as a ticket:

I have experienced signal dropouts recently. On one ride a few days ago the right pedal stopped transmitting sporadically. I stopped and tried a calibration but it failed a few times both on the Garmin and via the Favero app. I had to disconnect (“forget”) and re-pair the pedals to my Garmin Edge 530. After that the right pedal started to transmit but it showed a full circle of power phase (like I was applying force for the whole circle of pedaling action). Eventually it started working normally. I had a couple other rides (outdoor and indoor) without incident. However, today while on my indoor trainer, the signal for both pedals dropped off and on for a minute or two. The signal would drop, then come back after a few seconds, then drop for a second or two, etc. I was connected to my Edge 530 head unit and my laptop via ANT+ USB. Both devices showed no power readings during these signal drops. I have had the pedals since October 2019 and until now they have worked perfectly.

Any ideas while I wait for their reply? I’m on 4.25 firmware. Haven’t changed anything electronically as far as possible interference is concerned I don’t think.

Here’s the LR balance from that outside ride. The early ones were likely unclipping at lights etc (trackstand game still in progess! :grinning:)

Ah, you mentioned the 530 beta firmware… I did install the 5.28 beta a week or two ago, and the issue has started since that install (pedals were rock solid prior). I headed over to the Garmin beta site and lo, 5.31 is out:

Changes made from version 5.28 to 5.31:

Fixed an issue with sensors dropping out. (my emphasis)
Fixed an issue where the device could become unresponsive.
Fixed an issue where ascent remaining was not properly calculated for segments embedded in a course.
Allow the elevation profile setting on the map to be maintained through future software updates.

I will install 5.31 and see how things go. However on the indoor trainer ride yesterday the pedals (both) were dropping to my Trainerroad desktop app as well as the 530 at the same time (albeit for a few seconds at a time) but I wonder if that was a function of the (potential) 530 wonkiness…

Anyway, I will try the 5.31 firmware and report back here after a few rides. Will also see what Favero gets back to me with.

Thanks for the troubleshooting suggestions.

Cheers

I scratch a little sensor of assioma uno today…
And with cleats, which i seek for fast pedal lock

I dont know why favero desiged this sensor hub so big, and so acceptable to touch with cleat of shoe. Cleats are has quite sharp plastic edges…

After two years ive started getting left and right power issues with my Duos, this is today ride for example

I think the issue is with the right pedal that other people have mentioned previously, does anyone know how to view just the left pedal data?
