What type of workout should I do to burn fat on my trainer. I know HIIT is ideal but should I use power or heart rate?
For fat burn the best are low intensity workouts. Zone 2 for example.

A burn more calories by doing things

Don’t obsess about doing more, don’t obsess about eating less and it will work over time.
While intensity level and heart rate may change what systems you use for fueling in the moment that isn’t something that is going to work long term.
Between watts and heart rate, watts. But watts because its energy and can be more directly correlated to calories used to do that work than heart rate can tell you about how your body might be using those calories.
