Has any of you tried using the PML (power meter link)?
I use PML with elite suito and it works great.
Interesting @lukaszko ! Do you prefer it over Trainerroad’s PowerMatch? If so, could you perhaps specify why?
I’ve used PML through the Elite app, and is pretty good when on Zwift, especially over longer intervals.
One of the main draws of a smart trainer was not having to continuously change my power meter over between my road and TT bike when training, so the Zumo being considerably out doesn’t really help with this. If I had two power meters, I might not be so bothered and PML would be useable through both.
Heard anything from Elite yet?..
Having the same issues with my second unit
I’ve got to check the firmware version and get back to them, but it sounds like they will be sending me a firmware update.
I always intended to use a powermeter and power-match so this doesn’t bother me too much… but hopefully it will be sorted out in the future.
Hi all, im experiencing the same under reporting issue with this trainer.
I’ve reached out to Elite support and I’m also going through the testing protocol of 1m 150,200,250,300,350 etc against a Quarq DZero.
The files that they send you in response are JSON files which apear to remap the trainer and are not specifically firmware updates and apear to be specific to each individual trainer so can’t be shared.
You need the Upgrado app and an Android device as the iOS app doesn’t support the uploading of these EEPROM JSON files at the current time.
I’ve receive two files from them now, the first didn’t seem to make any difference and i’m awaiting access to an Android device in order to upload the second.
For me, the trainer has been terrible and nothing like the reported performance from SM and DCR. At 300W Zumo the Quarq is reporting more like 340-350. At 350 its 400 and as you can imagine that will just kill you.
From what i’ve read it seems that the Suito (search other well known app forums) is behaving in the same way as it probably uses the same technology to calculate the power. However, i don’t have a Suito or have access to one so can’t confirm this.
What I thought would be a cheap direct drive trainer is not panning out as hoped. You get what you pay for I suppose. Maybe stick to one of the Elite trainers with an OTS instead.
That’s very interesting Davey, not encouraging but interesting! I don’t have android, only iOS and no laptops so we’ll see how that goes.
me too.
Those are exactly the sorts of wattage gaps that I’m experiencing: at once reassuring (it’s not just me), but also worrying (this looks like a major issue).
Just sent my files over to them today. Will see what I get back - sounds like I’m gonna have to dig out an old android phone.
Was happy with the slightly lower spec: 3% or thereabouts is fine for me. But consistently 40-50w out is a lot more than 3%…
At what watts are you seeing a 30-40w discrepancy?
For me the gaps increase at a consistent rate as the wattage increases. At 100W the difference is minimal. At 300W the gap is ~50W.
This is the result after 1 round of JSON file imports (as you can see no better).

Scroll down the Mean Max Power chart and you can see the divergence grow as the watts increase.
This is after the 2nd JSON file they sent me. The Zumo is now over reading slightly (~10W) but the divergence seems consistent over the range now.

I hope elite give you a refund after all of this.
Are you calibrating as well after uploading these custom JSON mappings?
Mine gets worse at higher watts…
Yes, of course. Using the Elite myE Training App and after about 10min warmup.
That was my initial experience, after the 2nd JSON file the divergence seemed to stay consistent.
Thought you will have done (I would have) but also wondered what would happen if you didn’t do a spin down?
At least power match shouldn’t have any bother at all with a consistent 10w offset - I think trainerroad even lets you apply a constant offset?
