as that appears to be the flip side of TR’s approach which I’ll paraphrase as “ramp test + ‘skeleton plan’ with AT/PL customization + Erg-by-default + bring your own entertainment.”
Last week’s Anaerobic Intervals article on TR blog made the claim that accurate FTP via Ramp Test is important at anaerobic intensities which made me stop and do a double take.
No, it’s worse than that. He thinks he is woowoo and is really just average US cyclist dude. I know plenty of people from the actual out there community and he is not it, he is just ridiculous.
I’m not even sure what that means. Come on, he’s a little more than average. He had the US hour record and has been a national champion on the track. He has been coaching for a while AFAIK. He’s not just some rider turned coach for EF.
My uneducated guess is they don’t really want to do the platinum, but showing it will do two things…
Make the other alternatives look better (read cheaper)
Maybe there is a sucker who is willing to pay that 5k per month fee… It’s free money…
There are people who $5k a month is nothing. And having the opportunity to say they had a coach from a pro team is enough incentive to pay up…
This is the same people who have no issue with paying 13k every 2 years for a new bike…
Although I think they missed an opportunity there…
They should have put on platinum pricing…
“If you have to ask how much does it cost, you can’t afford it”
Actually, according to the EF Team Coaching website Elite starts at only $2,900, which is still expensive. At least for me, but I’m sure there are some amateurs with a lot more disposable $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ than me who would be willing to pay this, depending upon what it includes.
Yes. I was actually surprised at the difference between the price you posted, and what is showing on the website this morning. Either a glitch yesterday, or someone quickly had a change of heart.
Easy one, stupid expensive car all day… every day (at least for me)
I know I have posted the info, but that is purely to have factual data there with no commentary. For the record, I think the EF Elite is crazy money.
Your post is perfect, because if I hit a jackpot or wanted to toss some money away, it would be on the new MX-5 ND2 ragtop in Soul Red, without question or hesitation. Most likely GT spec, but Club with the full Recaro / Brembo options is so tempting too.
On a more topical commentary basis, I really struggle to understand where that money goes and how it actually is going to make a meaningful difference from a performance perspective for someone paying that money.
Now…if it includes all ride food, kits, discounts on bikes, the whole shebang, maintenance etc, then I could actually see that being attractive.
$3k/month all in for all things provided? (team bikes as well?)
