E-Bike Rides from Strava, how to sync into TR?

Hi @SarahLaverty, thanks for your reply

Cheers for the tip on how to download a ride file and manually upload it to TR. I might use that in future, but tbh now that I realise that any such rides wouldn’t be taken into consideration by the adaptive training AI (yet!?) I’m not too worried about it. Happy to have some “secret miles” on the ebike haha!

And yeah, that ride on the 5th did sync just fine, as did a few other ebike rides the previous week or so. For some reason that I don’t understand (an app update, perhaps?) for a brief period, rides that were being recorded on the Bosch app synced to Strava as “ride” not “ebike ride” and were therefore appearing on Trainer Road too. That’s when I was like “oh this is actually quite cool” and did a bit of digging on this forum to figure out if ebike rides could sync to TR. But my experience has been that if an activity on Strava is recorded as “ebike ride” initially and then I manually change it to “ride”, it just doesn’t register with Trainer Road.

Being pretty new to Trainer Road, I have to say I’m very impressed with it and I’m really enjoying the whole experience of training using the app. I look forward to future improvements that will make a great thing even better!

Any updates from the Product Development team?

Not at this time – we will post updates to this thread as we have them.

The best work around I have found is to use a Garmin bike computer (I’ve always had Wahoo) and upload the ride from Garmin Connect to TR directly.

Just found this after posting my own thread on the subject. Noob.

I couldn’t find a “resync” button anywhere on TR? I tried setting my E-MTB ride type on Strava temporarily to “Ride”, but then didn’t know what to do. If it’s a case of “just wait” - how long?

Instead I went to the activity on Strava and selected “… → Export Original” and then imported that using the “Import Activity” button at the top of my Career > Past Activities page. Faff (and means it doesn’t link through to Strava should I want to click through from TR one day).

Presumably then you don’t record the ride on your Garmin as an E-bike ride.

Update: eBike rides from Strava are now automatically syncing into TR for me. I haven’t changed any settings - it just ‘magically’ started happening recently. Is this happening for anyone else too?
