Deals / Sales / Discounts for Cycling "Stuff" (2023)

Everyone has their own comfort level with vendors… BUT, I buy stuff from AE all the time and came across this.

*EDIT - the image doesn’t pop up, its all 12-speed Ultegra parts minus crank for $1400 shipped.

With tax it’s around $1,520. Which isn’t terrible. And I don’t have any issues with Ali Express I buy from there all the time. Buying it piece by piece was slightly cheaper as I bought a Dura-Ace cassette and it was just over $1400 total. So around $100 cheaper and I got the better cassette. Just more of a hassle buying from multiple vendors.

On a related note, the 105 Di2 group on AliEx is the cheapest I’ve seen at around $700 or so. Almost picked up that but I really like the top buttons and want satellite shifters.

They are a little heavier and less aero. I’ve kept road pedals on my zoom zoom road bike but when I’ve broken a cleat and switched SPDs to that bike, the only noticeable difference is the float feeling a little different.
Once I wear the pedals out, I might not get road pedals to replace them.

Ah yes tax! I forgot about that, still for me shipped its $1500 flat (in Chicago). Its a good price to buy it all at once and not piece mail.

I am with you on the 105, if it had the top buttons on the levers I would have bought them weeks ago. I really like those buttons on-top and that’s what is holding me back with the 105 especially at that price point.

I just wanted to post the link incase someone is looking for some Di2 and the sales die off.

Why do I find a little sketchy?

I though Shimano was not doing rim brakes for 12 speeds… what did i missed?

They must have some support for rim brakes in 12 speed groupsets.

Can’t speak for Ali Express though.

Shimano “is” doing rim brakes in 12-speed.

From my understanding they are taking the 11-speed shifters (im sure they have a ton) and repurposing them to be used with the 12-speed Derailleurs.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t think they are wireless.

in terms of AliEX, the vendor selling that setup is about as legit as you can get. When buying from AliEx check the vendors page and look at their stats.

IMO if the vendor is over 3-years in age and over 3K followers they are reliable/safe.

EDIT

Looking more into this, they are calling out in the parts specs using ST-R8150 shifter’s (Ultegra) which is a direct correlation to shimano’s site;

So you are really buying a 105/Ultegra mix.

As an owner of a 12 speed DA group, yes, yes they are. And it is glorious.

Here’s my cockpit as I posted in this thread. Wired indeed.

And because I can’t help myself, here she is in full Vermont glory:

Back to the deals…

Very nice!

Now that I processed the question above thats a killer deal, who cares if you run Juintech GT-F or TRP HY/RD calipers for your disc brake bike!?!?!

Canyon has some good deals…granted it’s not on the latest stuff. Still, an Aeroad with deep wheels, Force AXS and a power meter for $5k and free shipping is pretty good.

That is a really good deal…$5k on most other brands gets you 105 these days.

And 1 year payments at 0%.

If it took normal handle bars I probably would have purchased by now!

Where did you get the DA cassette?

Those colors though. Are they that 80s in person? Maybe I’m an outlier?

My friend bought and returned one. He couldn’t get the fit right. I rode with him once and the color combo isn’t great imo. Red and purple? Meh.

I actually like them, in a world in which people wear all sorts of colors, both in cycling and otherwise.

I confirmed with Canyon that these are the older Force groupset, not the 2023 release.

Yeah, I don’t mean to knock anyone who likes them. My daughter loves 80s stuff. It’s just, having lived through the era, it kind of screams this to my eyes

Bike Inn had it for around $250. LordGun has them for $230ish right now. I’ve ordered from both places in the past without issue.

I kinda love this though…
