Deals / Sales / Discounts for Cycling "Stuff" (2023)

I’ve never used speedplay and that is tempting. It would cost less for me to buy those than to upgrade my single sided rallys to dual sided.

Thinking back on it- the wire tool may have been in the box with the battery, not with the RD.

Tempting to say the least…
What kind of shoes do these cleats require? The specs say 3 hole cleats. Does that mean road shoes?

Yes, road shoes.

I got them last year and they have been great…big fan. I have used them as well for some light gravel, but definitely not pedals you can get off and walk around in if you do that.

If they worked for gravel I’d definitely get them.

If you goal is primarily gravel, these aren’t the pedals for you…the cleats can easily get clogged with dirt / mud / pebbles. Unless the gravel you ride is Category 1 gravel and you never have to get off the bike, you’ll need to look elsewhere.

Any pedal.will work for gravel if you don’t put a foot down, but don’t imagine these are anything like a typical mtb pedal. They will clog easily and are definitely not for hikeabike! That said, they are excellent road pedals.

All the pictures online show it with the RD. And the battery box definitely didn’t come with it. Either way, I don’t feel like dealing with the seller any more than I have to do I’m just going to pick one up from my shop.

Apart from that, all the parts have arrived for my 12 speed upgrade. All together it was around $1400 using the deals from this page. That’s with tax and shipping so not terrible. I kept my 11-speed Dura-Ace crankset for now. Just waiting for a good deal on that or maybe a Red/Quarq combo with DA rings. Whatever I can get a deal on.

Yep. I would have been out of the Unbound race at mile 10 with those pedals.

Ugh. Ordered.

Looks like I’ll be listing a pair of Vector 3 for sale.

Why sell pedals… when all you need is another bike to put them on?
:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Because I already have a spare set as it is
Trying to not turn into a full on hoarder

  • You say that like it’s a bad thing

It’s not hoarding, it’s having an inventory stock for the future.

This is not the message that someone who already owns more bikes and bike parts than he has any business owning needs.

Well crap. I’d buy these in a second, except. I already have a power meter on my road bike.

Protip for anyone who does venture into Speedplay: Lube the spring in the cleat. It’s a game changer. Oh, and don’t overtighten.

What kind of lube? Just typical grease?

Yup, initial setup is notable with many over doing the cleat screws.

And cleat maintenance as well, with the proper lube:
