Cross Country Marathon or Cross Country Olympic

Which plan will be best for me in case of following spec:

  1. Short MTB race 90-120min
  2. Average vertical rise 1000m
  3. Routes are more like marathon rather than olympic XC (Long uphill climbs and long descents).
  4. Average distance 35km

XCM looks better.

I would choose it based upon the length of the climb you intend to win the race on.

In the UK the climbs in xco courses are usually sub 4 mins and, by and large, you break people on short z6 accelerations up steep kickers and then doing sweetspot inbetween; so I actually tend towards a cx plan most of the time.
