There is a mega thread on the robot on home-barista - Cafelat Robot User Experience - Page 275
I enjoy light roasts and living at 1100m above sea level (water boils at lower temps) I find that I need to do a few things to get everything good and hot. I use the “overflow” method described in the above thread and preheat the piston a bit with a tall cup. It sounds like a pain but doesn’t really add much time.
My recipe is 18.5-19g in, 10s pre-infusion at 1-2bar, 40g out with 6-7bar on the main pull, taking ~30sec not including the Pre-infusion.
Cool and was going to do 18g to start and the workflow seems really easy.
I made a 22.5g moccamaster this morning and just did 18g aeropress. Usually am 17:1 ratio for coffee.
Marie kondo (and I) approve
I got the Vertuo machines for the bigger coffee’s.
Surprisingly good and very quick to do before a morning workout - the 250ml ones give a big caffeine kick.
I do miss my drip coffee however, and usually have that on the odd weekends when i can enjoy the time making it.
what a great set!
guys, could you please help me chose?
I’m looking between these models 9 Best Coffee Grinders for Espresso (Fall 2022) - Detailed Reviews
As far as I can get, Baratza and Breville are the best… but have anyone had one?
thanks in advance
Baratza is much better than Breville.
Baratza makes quality stuff and awesome customer service.
Hey guys, does anyone have any recommendations for cleaning out a clogged espresso filter basket?
Our most used one (double shot) no longer lets any liquid through. I’ve seen online an option to burn off the bean fibre which is presumably stuck in the tiny holes - anyone had any luck doing that?
I know there are more than 1 Rancilio Silvia owners here (I am one of them)
Have you guys seen you next machine?
PID, double boiler!!!
The only “problem” is the price. Half of a new bike. ($1700).
Half?
Fine… 1/3
Bargain?
I was like
when i saw the Keurig.
then i looked up the racks.
I’m sorry, I started to hide it. It’s for guest without care for good coffee.
That looks interesting. Which other machines have those characteristics - double boiler, PID, reasonable size?
There are many at this price point.
This is defenitly not the less expensive one.
BUT as an owner of a Rancilio Silvia (got it as a gift in 2012), I can say Rancilio do great machines!
From a video review I was watching for the Silvia pro, the reviewer was saying the best thing about the machine is shot consistency. And to me thats the selling point.
If you take good care of it, this machine will last a long long time.
Yeah, I know - I’ve nurtured an old Faema my parents left me over, and I’ve been running a full-auto Saeco whose every screw and connector I intimately know by now, after almost 20 years. I’ve been toying with the idea of going with a real grinder and a real machine for a while.
You do your research, but after owning a Rancilio machine, i cant envision myself owning something else.
Rancilio do professional (coffee bar level machines) and ONE consumer machine: The Silvia (well 2 now with the pro).
They use the same head on the silvia as they use on their pro machines.
