Oh sorry! I had earlier made a comment about modern European democratic socialism, which drummed up some general capitalism/socialism pushback, so I gave those 4 countries as examples by which to compare the state of the US to European democratic socialism.

Some folks here are having a really hard time taking the hint that if they want to talk global socio-political science then this isn’t the place to be doing it. It’s actually quite annoying for those who want to discuss or read about Chad’s departure.

I think we’re all thinking this! Doesn’t seem classy.
This plus wiping Chad from the site really seems to suggest some type of serious misconduct that resulted in not only his involuntary departure, but also a severed long-standing friendship.
This 100%. I HATE the term “quiet quitting,” and these corporate higher-ups getting bent out of shape that people are “only doing the job they are paid to do.” It’s criminal that these individuals think people should be doing beyond what they are being paid and what their job is. New research shows that those people going above and beyond actually have it worse.
We should reach 1000 posts before the weekend!
On top of my head, I can’t remember anyone being dismissed with cause being thanked and acknowledged for their work in places where have worked. Once management resort to firing someone, the relationship has often been strained for some time. The employee is likely just shown the door.
For dismissals without cause (layoffs) I take it as the norm that you thank people for their contributions.
In defense of this thread, even the ultra-focused cycling community has a need for the occasional bit of drama. Some of us don’t have time for Netflix and training. I really hope all parties involved are ok, but this thread is a nice departure from “my Z2 is better than your z2” and “when is workout levels V2 coming.”
