Cannabis Thread (CBD)

In reality, it’s about half of a dropper

I’ve been using CBD since January this year and feel so much better for it. I have no pre-existing mental or physical ailments or conditions; I take it for general health and well-being. I buy mine from The Original Alternative (formerly CBD Brothers) in the UK, one of the more reputable manufacturers who regularly receive favourable comments and reviews https://theoriginalalternativeofficial.com/?fbclid=IwAR1k7dbCqe5ijMDTlpx-W2Aqq1C2OiqzRSDGc6Lq0lJ4XGi1noNbEiVqhl4). They’re not the cheapest but they are very good - a classic case of you get what you pay for.

Note: for legal reasons they are not allowed to provide advice on which of their products to take for whichever ailment or condition you might have. However, there is a very good Facebook group with close links to the company which is moderated by knowledgeable volunteers (Herbal Alternatives | Facebook).

I take four drops of their green oil at breakfast time, one of their 100mg green capsules late-morning/midday at work, and four drops of their silver oil an hour before bed. I feel energised and alert (in a natural rather than a caffeine-induced sort of way), have a general sense of well-being, and enjoy a good solid night’s sleep every night. The green oil is a sativa (uplifting) and the silver an indica (relaxing).

For anyone that’s interested, it’s worth taking some time to read up on the workings of the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS - the network of CBD receptors and bodily regulators that everyone has) and how CBD interacts with it. This incredible biological system helps the body to achieve and maintain a healthy equilibrium. However, since most people don’t take CBD, their ECS is functioning well below its full capability. Just Google “endocannabinoid system”.

A word of warning: if you are interested in trying CBD, you are strongly advised to start with a low dosage and slowly increase it over time until you reach your sweet spot. The idea of starting low and slow is to gently awaken your ECS. If you start with too high a dosage, you run the risk of overwhelming the ECS, which can produce some pretty unpleasant - though temporary - flu like symptoms. Google “Herxing” or “Herxheimer reaction” for more information.

Very quick maths based on the web link suggests approx. £1.45 a day based on your dosage. Over £40 a month! That’s a lot of money :flushed:

I know people who spend more than that for coffee, beer, wine and such. It’s all a matter of priorities.

Wish I had £40 a month to spend on beer/wine/coffee/snoochieboochies

How much does a good snoochieboochie usually run?

Think you’ve got your maths wrong mate.

Well, don’t just state it, show me where I’ve gone wrong…

Economy of scale. Buy biggest sizes, works out cheaper per month. Bit like your TR subscription: cheaper per month if you pay annually vis a vis paying monthly.

You’re being pedantic. I even stated “based on quick maths” I’m in pretty the close ballpark. :man_shrugging:

Not sure what I said but maybe the CBD oil isn’t working quite as well for you as you might have first thought :open_mouth:

I don’t drink or do cannabis …now.
I am considering CBD.
Something to bear in mind is that for young men, with a genetic predisposition to schizophrenia, cannabis is recognized as a major trigger. (Or is it that people with a genetic predisposition smoke cannabis?)
I’m not against it. Just for some people it can trigger mental health issues. I watched this happen to a close friend.

Understood. If you stack up the list of negatives for thc vs. alcohol I still don’t think there is much argument between the two. I’m not advocating for either, just looking at the costs vs. benefits of each of them.

I frequently see the irony that many CBD/THC detractors are constant consumers of alcohol (many to excess). That reality escapes many as they are stuck on the stigma of illegal vs legal aspects (that are actively in flux no less).

I’ve said many times that it’s hard to name someone who smoked weed and then went and did something violent. Now…as for alcohol…

I decided to pick up some Charlotte’s Web 50mg original formula tinctures from a recommendation from here. Obviously just my experience here, but one dropper before bed has been doing wonders for my recovery and sleep quality.

I am able to take on a lot more training stress from before and recover quicker. If it is just a placebo effect, than just don’t tell me cause it’s working!

So is “hemp extract” the same as CBD?

Not exactly sure but I don’t think so. I think the charlottes web hemp extract is a “full spectrum” oil that has other cannaboids (but none or very little THC) whole CBD oil I would guess just has CBD.

This whole area seems pretty fuzzy to me but I believe CBD is present & can be extracted from hemp plants as well as cannabis plants. My understanding is that if it is extracted from hemp, there will be no THC while if extracted from cannabis it could have a very low amount of THC. I don’t know anything about extraction methods other than crude alcohol extractions I’ve used to make my own tinctures & those were primarily THC rich plants. Think I’m getting a couple of ounces of a 1:1 CBD:THC strain soon & will likely extract with alcohol or MCT oil to make a tincture.
