Cannabis Thread (CBD)

I added the (CBD) to the thread title on opening day, based on what appeared the direction at the time.

It seems we’ve had CBD and THC related comments along the way. I see no problem with the mix and can either add the THC to the title or drop the CBD that I had previously added.

I see, I didn’t notice that. You’re the boss so whatever you think is best :+1:t4:

Sorry @RONDAL and all if I sounded disrespectful, it wasn’t meant to be.

My answer was based on the title of the post. Considering the long « moral » discussion about cannabis that took place (145 posts and not many good informations or studies), I taught it was clear that we were discussing CBD related to training.

I myself consume both CBD and THC on a regular basis, it was not a statement judging it.

I’ll throw some N=1 into the mix. I’m a stressball. You wouldn’t know it by talking with me but my mind is usually racing pretty hard & my inner dialog rarely shuts up. This is one of the reasons I enjoy any activity that can put me in “the zone” or flow state because that’s where the chatter goes to die. Snowboarding, surfing, skateboarding & the rhythm of turning the cranks all hep to quiet my mind, especially i the woods. I ride for my mental health as much as my physical health.

The only problem have is that when I go out too hard on a ride, I’m prone to panic attacks. I think it goes back to getting trapped underneath a motorcycle in the woods about 15 years ago or so -some kind of PTSD maybe. So what happens is I get into a deep oxygen debt on hills before I’m warmed up & I freak the heck out! I feel trapped in my own skin & have sometimes ended up on the side of the trail stripping -my helmet comes flying off, gloves then shirt. I haven’t made it to the shorts yet, fortunately for everyone! It’s got to be disconcerting to see & I feel like an absolute fool when it happens. Back in my late teens I was quite the pot head with far more than my fair share of psychedelics thrown in for good measure. At that time, the weed really helped to calm my overactive mind down & allowed me to relax. But then the weed started getting stronger & stronger THC wise as prohibition helped cause growers to focus on breeding for high THC content to the exclusion of all the other cannabinoids. This type of cannabis triggers high stress & paranoia in me so for years I would only use very occasionally. Then my home state Massachusetts had the good sense to legalize for both medical & eventually adult use. I’ve been experimenting with both straight CBD products & also CBD dominate products that also contain THC. I’ve found that if I consume a couple of 25mg CBD gummies a few hours prior to a ride, the panic attacks are greatly reduced. Recently, I’ve been vaporizing a very small amount of 2ish:1 CBD:THC shatter prior to a ride. This seems to help the panic issues more than anything. This winter, I’m considering growing a crop of CBD dominate plants & making edibles from it. Growing is super fun & I love photographing the plants.

All that said, none of that has anything to do with training, these have been recreational rides. I honestly feel like too much THC is a performance inhibitor but maybe very small amounts could be helpful. It does seem to help me focus on the bike & has made winter fat bike rides a bit more tolerable, too. Whichever way you cut it though, we need more research.

Not to worry, my comment was slightly tongue in cheek, as you can see by the post two above yours.

Just wanted to say your description of yourself sounds very similar to how I’d describe me. Panic attacks don’t have to be normal or routine for you; if you’re interested in controlling your panic you might find some benefit in talking to a professional.

Great advice, thank you!

CBD oil isn’t illegal in the UK

No cbd oil seems to be thriving, I was referring to smoking weed itself back then I think

Here’s one site showing where it believes we are with the hard evidence on cannabis

Glad to see my insomnia where it was. Makes such a world of difference with respect to getting proper sleep/recovery.

Good post

I take a 50mg capsule twice a day. Once before work/workout and once before bed. I’m 100% sure the nighttime one works as my sleep has improved in both quantity and quality.

I’m not sold on it working for pain relief yet and have considered dropping the morning dose to see what happens. It would save a lot of money that I could spend on bike stuff!!

I’ve also found that not all products are equal. You need to try different brands, methods, and dosages to see what works best for you.

Has anyone experienced, or know of any studies that look at, lung irritation or coughing from THC/CBD gummies?

Out of curiosity, how/why would food get into the lungs?

It’s always calmed my anxiety. I have a medical card Medical Marijuana Card in Fresno (CA) – Online Guide 2022 and if I’m having an anxiety attack it always brings me back down to take a couple hits and get out of my own head. Yes, tons of people find cannabis can help quell anxiety. It can also exacerbate it; it depends on a lot of factors like dose, tolerance, strain, set and setting, etc. But the potential anxiolytic effects of cannabis are indeed well-known and have been much appreciated by many.

I’m sure lots of people read the article from bicycle magazine about Floyd Landis and Floyd’s of Leadville.

I’m interested in the tincture. I got free samples of the gummies at their NYC Triathlon booth and would like to try for longer to see what it does for me. But the tincture label says 1 serving is 20 drops. That’s like a shot!!!

Chew them don’t inhale them

Ha. Yes. Chewing edibles but still coughing.

I use Lazarus CBD drops and balm and they work nice for their intended purposes but I still find myself smoking thc dominant plants to really relax mentally and physically.
