I’ve been working on a small project for grassroots cycling. It’s called Cyclops, and the idea is simple: Create an event page for your group ride, share it, and let people RSVP.
It’s pretty basic for now but you can
Create an account
Create a nice event page for your group ride to share with friends and community
RSVP to events and see who’s RSVPed to yours
It’s super early, so there’s not much activity yet… but if you’ve got a group ride, race, or just want to mess around, I’d love to hear what you think!
I’ve been saying forever that Strava has missed a giant opportunity in this space. They could be the de-facto site for club communication portal, a place for paying club dues, and bike club ride calendars, and event calendars / announcements / registration.
Nice, I played around in there and created an event, digging the experience so far - I’ll be interested in seeing you develop some more features like being able to set up recurring events. Coffee Ride w/ Giordana - Booty Laps | Cyclops
What’s the difference between this and just posting something on Facebook or Instagram? So far that’s where I’ve found most of my group rides.
I’m hoping there’s some good value in using Cyclops along with a traditional social media post.
Build out your event on Cyclops with all the details, route info, etc. Then share the event page as part of your Instagram/Facebook post. Your community sees it there, then clicks through for all the rich info.
Setting up recurring events is in the works! Along with the foundation for creating a team/club.
