I had the same issue as @mcneese.chad on my Mac running Mojave 10.14.5
I have a kickr 2017 that was dropping out near then end of my workout and also saw that ERG Mode would disappear as well. It would then reconnect and drop out again a few times. Luckily it was at the end of an less important ride.
I was connected via ANT+
- Platform: MacBook Air OS X El Capitan
- Beta Version: 2019.23.1.32 (*Had the wrong version listed before)
- Trainer: Tacx Flux S
- Connection: Bluetooth
- Mode: ERG
So I opened the app yesterday and let it sit to see how long it would take to update, and naturally this time it gave me the green update bar within about 3 mins, so Iām not sure why it was previously taking so long for me on the past few updates.
As far as the workout I did this morning, all was as expected until after the workout. After I ended the workout, it showed the workout (Shortoff +4) as completed. However, I had to re-associate the workout with the scheduled workout, which was the workout I completed, Shortoff +4. I did have to turn down the intensity and cut the workout an interval short since I was just having a bad morning, but I donāt recall making those type of adjustments ever causing the workout to not associate with the scheduled workout even when the workout done was the scheduled workout.
Hey all,
Beta updates are now available. They should be auto-updating within a few minutes of you opening the app. If youāre still running into significantly long times before the update is available, let us know. Here are the version numbers and changes/fixes that went in today:
Windows - 2019.23.2.35
Mac - 2019.23.2.33
Fixes:
- Removed workout text beeps for the āWorkout Startedā and āWorkout Endedā (should still be happening for regular workout instructions)
- Fixed an issue where the cooldown portion of the Ramp Test didnāt adjust to the new FTP that is calculated after finishing the test
- Fixed an issue with the trainer mode hotkey (āmā) not cycling through the modes properly
- Fixed an issue where manually completing a ride on your Calendar didnāt work properly
- Various minor bug fixes
Appreciate all of the help! Still some ongoing issues that are noted in the top post. Weāre working on them.
Taking a look now. Cutting out of the ride early or adjusting intensity shouldnāt have an effect on ride association. Tommy and I have tried some reproduction scenarios to no avail. One thing to note is that there might be a bit of a delay before the automatic association happens (at least Iāve seen it a few times, just a few seconds).
Was there anything else you did during your ride that you remember? Pausing and resuming? Iām sorta drawing a blank on anything that would trigger that, but Iāll keep trying different things. Thanks very much!
If it was just a delay and I jumped the gun, then the delay was definitely more than a few seconds (it took me longer than that to collect myself after haha). Iām guessing it was probably more like at least a minute that had elapsed when I noticed. If it comes up again, Iāll remember to wait longer.
As far as the ride goes, I didnāt pause and resume at all. I only paused at the end when I decided to end the workout early and then clicked the End Workout button. Other than that, the only other notable thing I did was I adjusted the intensity down to 96% after the second interval. While not something that I actually did, I did have one brief dropout during the second to last interval I did, but it wasnāt more than a couple seconds and I continued riding for another 10+ mins after it occurred. Doesnāt seem like that would be related, but in case it helps with diagnosing, I figured it might be worth mentioning.
We would definitely want the association to be as instantaneous as possible. By adjusting the intensity and ending a workout early, Iām seeing a ride take up to 35 seconds to associate. So Iāll issue this up.
My gut says this wonāt be a super easy fix, but weāll let you know once itās addressed. Appreciate your patience!

My Stages battery had died on Sunday during an outside ride, and prior to running TR desktop app I installed new batteries and did a calibration in Stages app which resulted in 881 left and 877 right. I did a calibration in TR app and it showed an offset of 0. Turned on my Garmin Edge 520 and did another calibration, and the 520 showed 881 left and 877 right. Stages app on iPhone used Bluetooth. 520 only supports ANT+. TR showing 0 offset is a bug

After calibrating Kickr you have to wait for speed to drop to 0, so I picked up my phone to respond to an email. Received the Spindown Calibration Successful dialog but was too busy responding to the email to click on Save Calibration button. Was surprised to see the dialog change to Calibration Failed. Hmm, ok, lets try again. Second calibration attempt and I timed it - the app gives you approximately 17 seconds to click the Save Calibration button before the dialog changes to Calibration Failed and you have to start over. With 2 failed calibration I did a 3rd calibration, and this time clicked Save Calibration button before the timeout, and I was surprised to see no offset value like with Stages.

During a workout I clicked on Stats to show more details. The font for live interval stats is too small to read on my laptop without squinting/glasses. My eyes are about 3 feet from the laptop. I have no problem seeing my Edge 520 or TR mobile app on iPhone (both on handlebars), so this was disappointing as the rest of the TR Desktop app is easy to see on my 15" MacBook.

Had to cut workout short, and summer has arrived (94 degrees in garage!) so I closed laptop and went inside. Opened laptop and TR Desktop app had a spinning beach ball and 1-3 minutes later it crashed and the OSX dialog appeared to inform the app had crashed.
As always, thanks for the feedback!
- Glad to hear that you enjoyed the onboarding process.
- For power meter calibrations, we send a calibration request and wait for a success/failure response or a timeout which is treated as a failure. The offset value displayed is reported by the power meter along with the success response and is not altered by us. I will look into the behavior youāre reporting on our Stages and see if something nefarious might be going on. For reference, did your Stagesā data appear to be accurate after calibrating in TrainerRoad?
- This trainer calibration success/failure behavior sounds like something weāll likely want to address. Iām not sure what the best solution may be but Iāll bring it up with the team and see what they think. We made the decision not to display offset values for trainer calibrations and I do not believe that this will change.
- We just adjusted these stats to scale with the window size a couple of days ago and the response has been good. Are they noticeably larger than before but still ātoo smallā for your vision?
- As you know, weāre aware of this Mac freeze/crash issue but have pulled some resources from it for the time being due to it only happening on computer sleep and not during rides/active use of the app. We certainly will address it at some point!
this was the calibration process:
- Stages app on iPhone gave 881 left / 877 right
- TR Desktop app gave 0
- Garmin 520 gave 881 left / 877 right
So yes, the Stages data received by 520 was same as the Stages app on iPhone, and unaffected by TR app calibration.
To be honest I could not tell the difference. That said, earlier this afternoon I flew home on a 1.5 hour flight. Spent most of the flight leveling up on Wordscapes Definitely had some eye strain from staring at my phone, however the workout started almost 3 hours after landing.
the issue is that there is no option to squish vertically, only horizontal. It isnāt really an issue as I always open the app on full screen but wanted to flag in case you deem important.
Thanks!!!
In general I really like the new app. My comments are not bug reports but more aesthetic design in nature. Two things: 1) I agree with the previous comment to make minimal mode as minimal as possible. I think that it can be reduced more, and 2) I know that red is the TR color but I hate all of the big red buttons and such in the app. They are too eye catching and distracting. If you must use red then how about just an outline like the green sensors button? Something less distracting. Or, even better, a different color like green (which happens to be my favorite color )
During todayās workout, it finally clicked what you were referring to. I have better than 20/20 vision and am about 3ft from my screen. While I can read the summary text fine, I do agree that it is rather small and could probably use a tad larger font size.
Glad itās not just me then!!
Thatās definitely strange! I suspect it could be a side-effect of the resolution issue we have open right now - weāll update the group once we know how the developers want to proceed with the resolution issue.
Iām glad to hear itās not stopping you from using the app, at least! Thanks so much for the feedback, much appreciated.
Okay, I feel like I must be missing something very obvious here, but I canāt figure out how to use minimal mode while watching netflix on Mac OS (Mojave). When I go to full screen on netflix my Mac puts the browser window in one āspaceā and the TR app (in minimal mode) in another āspaceā, so I have to three finger swipe between them to see. I feel like there must be a way to shut this off in Mac OS, but I canāt find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Love the new apps! Nice work as usual TR team! The easy substitution of workout variants when scheduling workouts is fantastic! Thank you for your always excellent work!!
Hey @carterterry,
Iām sorry to hear minimal mode isnāt working properly!
Were you by chance using Safari? Minimal mode on top of full-screen Netflix works for me on Firefox, but not on Safari.
Thank you for your feedback, Iāll pass this along!
Thatās an Mac OS thing . Someone told me that if you use Firefox you can get around it! Iām on my phone right now or Iād check.
Thank you for the reply Nate, I had a feeling it was a Mac thing that was out of the control of you guys at TR and out of my control. I thought perhaps there was a way to turn that feature off in OS X that I was just missing, but itās not a big deal.
I had also found somewhere that Firefox was a potential fix, but after downloading it I found that the same thing happens. @KickrLin had a good suggestion to just size the web browser appropriately above minimal mode and skip using full screen. That is working nicely.
As ever, fantastic work from the TR team. Not only are the new apps clean and easy to use, but when I posted my question I got a response within two days from one of your customer support team members and from the company CEO! That is what I call stellar customer service! I tell everyone I know about TR and encourage them that itās easily the best money they can spend on their bike! Thank you for the excellent work!
Thank you for the response @Tommy, I have no reason to suspect that this is a bug within the TR software (I should have been more clear about that in my initial post). This is a āfeatureā in OS X that I normally really like, but in this case is somewhat annoying. I had just hoped that someone who was more Mac savvy than I am might have a solution for turning dashboard off that I was missing.
Thank you for the quick response and for all of the excellent work you guys are doing at TR!
