I used a 4mm brad-point drill bit, with a bit of wood under it. It’s quite soft plastic so it’d be hard to accidentally crack it.
I used decent quality electrical tape, any by 3M brand is good if you’re in Europe. The bond from the tape glue gets stronger with age.
