Hello, I am in Vancouver, BC, Canada and looking to do my first bike fit. I have found a few local sources for this but wondering if there are any recommendations to help me choose the most appropriate one. Thank you for any suggestions and information.
Tara Lazarshski in North Vancouver is a physiotherapist who does bike fitting. She’s at North Shore Sports Medicine in Deep Cove several days a week. I think she does bike fitting at a different location though.
She’s the physio/commisiere for the Canadian National XCo Mountain Bike Team; goes to the major games w/ the team (Pan Ams, Pan Pac, Commonwealth Games, Olympics); she’s also the team physio for the Rocky Mountain-Race Face EWS team; has worked with other high performnnce cyclists & triathletes. She does cupping and acupuncture as well (that would be a separate appointment) so it’s handy to have the same person handling your file.
I recommend going w/ a physio bike fitter because it won’t just be based on what is biomechanically correct. Physiotherapists will take into account any unbalances and injuries that need to be addressed.
My husband has worked w/ Tara for a number of years (he’s a professional bike mechanic) so I know her personally. I recommended her to a friend who was looking for a physio familiar w/ cyclists and she was very happy, saying that Tara “gets” cycling & that it was a relief not to have to explain things.
Hope this helps.
PS: it’s off season, so her availability is much better than during race season. March - September she’s away for several weeks at a time, so now’s the time to book something.
I got a GURU fit last year at Bicycle Sports Pacific in Langley, 100-20445 62nd avenue. https://www.bspbikes.com
Can’t remember the woman’s name, but she was both competent and kind.
While I have not been to either I have heard glowing reviews from numerous cyclists about both BC Bike Fit in North Van and Fortius in Burnaby https://www.fortiussport.com/
I would give my vote to Noa Deutsch, works out of Bicicletta - I had a bike fit a couple of weeks ago and am/was very happy. I think Noa also used to do the fittings out of Fortius as mentioned on the above post.
Hi! I have used BC Bike Fit twice and had very good experiences both times. The first was a general fit to address shoulder/back pain after long road rides and the second time was a saddle fit. In both cases, Dave addressed the problem at hand and I was satisfied with the results.
