Beginner understanding training test

Hi all im back riding road after 15yrs, i started doing 4 turbo rides a week ish or riding every other day to get some fitness. I have very little knowledge of how to read the ftp thing or theres a training program on my elite app that lasts 30mins 5mins warm up 20mins as hardcas you can 5mins warm down. Now ive been roding for about 4 months now and tbh loving it even if im crap and unfit lol im 47 next month so not young but the first day i did a ftp and yes it was terrible just under 200 im 83kgs 6ft 6 so slim, ive mixed zone 2 with intervals but tbh not really sure what im doing ha this new test doesnt say ftp but i think it sort of is so my new test says max power 360watts crit power 270watts average power for 20mins 230watts it said about 3.3wkg my question is what the hell is it all ? Obviously 360 watts max isnt much but i never sprinted i just rode at what i thought was steady and is crit power diffrent to ftp ? My reading if this looks like my ftp is up quite a bit but im not sure how to read it whats crit power to ftp ? Sorry its long im just really enjoying training again ive set a goal of 300ftp hopefully at some point im guessing thats possible for an older person ? Cheers

You should try a proper ftp test, the longer the trst the more accurate would me. If you sign up for trainerroad you can try a ramp test as a starting point as well or let their Ai tool to estimate your ftp

Hi thanks ill try that  do i just run it all through my laptop or tablet ? My first ftp was an hr long as i didnt know about the 20min one lol so is crit power diffrent as the number is higher than my ftp ?

I’m guessing crit power refers to critical power.

Hey @Stretch47

You can run the Ramp Test on the TR app on your laptop or tablet! Here are instructions on how to properly do a Ramp Test: How to Test With the Ramp Test
