I purchased a pair of Favero Assioma Duo power meter pedals in 2021, and they had been working perfectly until recently. However, after updating to firmware version 6.12 in December 2024, I encountered an issue with the right sensor’s battery in February of this year. Specifically, the right sensor can only connect to the Favero app when plugged into the charger. Once the charger is disconnected, the indicator light on the right sensor goes off, and there is no signal output. As a result, I am currently only able to use the power meter as a single-sided Assioma UNO.
After several rounds of email communication with Favero’s customer service team, their proposed solution is for me to pay €196.70, including the cost of shipping and customs, to replace the spindle of the right sensor. I am quite puzzled and skeptical about this. I suspect that there might be a bug in firmware version 6.12. I have also learned that several other users have experienced similar issues. If this were due to natural aging of the battery or other hardware components, considering the varying purchase times and usage frequencies among us, it seems unlikely that so many users would encounter the same problem in February.
I’m curious to know if any of you have faced similar problems with your Assioma sensors. If so, could you share when you purchased your sensors and when the issues began to appear? I believe this information could be valuable in understanding the scope of the problem and potentially finding a solution.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences.
FWIW: I got my Duos six years ago. They’re current on firmware and still working well with the batteries seeming to last as long as when new. IDK, but it seems you just got unlucky and have one that’s failed.
I want to add, I stumbled upon this when researching for something similar myself. This year, since my first ride outdoors, the right pedal has been dying at an alarming rate, and only the right pedal. it only lasts about 4-5 hours. I’ve fully cycled the battery three times now, and after fully charging over the weekend, I did a 1.5 hour ride and the right battery is already at about 60% according to the app. The left battery I haven’t charged in weeks and it’s still at about 90%.
Adding another case here. My right pedal seems to die at various intervals despite close to full battery. This problem started after the latest firmware update (though not sure if connected). Favero haven’t been particularly helpful with support
My Assiomas have developed the same problem. The left pedal only lasts a few minutes, and once it’s dead, the head unit doesn’t receive any power data anymore. After connecting it to the charger, it wakes up and indicates an almost full battery.
You wrote that you fully cycled the battery – is there a trick to completely discharge it?
I have the same problem. I have a Favero Duo, and after installing version 6.12, coincidentally or not, it said I needed to charge the pedals. After charging them, I rode about 50 km, and the left (main) pedal stopped working. I put it back on and the battery was practically full. You can access the settings, but only when it’s charging. Turning off the charging mode doesn’t work. It’s strange. If there were a battery problem, it wouldn’t even charge. I think it’s a firmware issue. I’ll contact the manufacturer, but I already know what the answer will be
