Apple silicon version of TrainerRoad?

I’ve begun getting this message periodically when I load TrainerRoad on my MacBook Pro, “This version of “TrainerRoad” will not open in a future release of macOS. Learn how to update to an Apple silicon version.”

The system equirements posted for TrainerRoad software download don’t mention Apple silicon and list only “64-bit Intel® Core Duo 1.83GHz or faster.” I don’t see anything to indicate there is an Apple silicon-specific version available.

Is anyone else seeing this message? I guess it could be because I’m on a macOS Beta version?

My specifics:
2023 MacBook Pro
Apple M2 Pro chip
macOS Tahoe ver 26.4 Beta
TrainerRoad ver 2026.8.440

macOS 26 is the last version that supports x86 processors, I’m assuming Apple has started pushing the notifications so that consumers will start pushing vendors. I’m actually surprised TR isn’t a universal binary but I’m not that familiar with the runtime system they’re using. (Adobe Air?)

And there’s this from 2022:

at the very end of that article, “macOS 27 will launch in September 2026, so the end of support for Intel-based Macs is approaching.”

I guess we have a few months.

The more concerning app is Workout Creator is also only Intel at the moment, and given that TR has shown zero interest in updating this, it could be a goner with MacOS 27 rolls out.

I think they should create a web version or integrate it directly into the main app. Or just give up and direct users to someone else’s workout creator. That said, the only other workout creators I’m aware of are direct or indirect competitors to TR.

So I guess they better get moving on creating a replacement. It seems to me to be a simple little project that could probably be assigned to one engineer and one UX designer.

Just as a heads-up, we’re aware of this and have solutions in place!

Which / both?

  • TR App going native Apple Silicon
  • The Workout creator going native Apple Silicon
