Anyone subscribe to Flobikes?

So I emailed Flobikes support this morning on the 2021 US Schedule, and here’s the response I got:

We appreciate you reaching out! Our event coverage is based on the rights we’ve acquired for specific events and locations. FoBikes has not released the 2021 schedule, we apologize for the delay. Our team is working as fast as possible to have an updated schedule posted soon! Please refer to the event page for specific information related to any upcoming events.

well they just posted this:
Cycling Events | Upcoming Cycling Events - FloBikes

which is ridiculous. i’d estimate that 95% of the events listed are “unavailable in your area”. these are all events that would have been shown on the fubo cycling channel, which i continue to believe has been killed. so flobikes wants me to spend $150 a year on a cycling package that lets me watch, what? 3 events a year? these are dark days for tv cycling viewing in the US i’m afraid…

Yes - back to the days of looking for sketchy feeds on the internet, as it doesn’t look possible (at least as of now) to pay for coverage :skull_and_crossbones:

Edited my bad typing of “back” as “pack”

I’m pretty sure that is the same list that has been up for the last few weeks…

And there really shouldn’t be a surprise there for US viewers. Many (most?) of the events listed there are ASO-organized events and FLO does not have the broadcast rights to those events in the US.

NBC still has those rights and, to the best of my knowledge, will continue to broadcast them per usual in 2021. NBC Sports is not going away until after this year.

Now, whenever FLO gets around to posting their non-ASO schedule (Classics, Giro, Romandy, etc) would be much appreciated. But since none of those events are imminent, I’m not too worried about it for the moment.

you keep ignoring the point that all of these ASO events were regularly broadcast to US viewers on the fubo cycling channel. fubo says they lost the deals as of 12/31, flo says nothing (but has them listed in the calendar as “not available in your area”). look at the event list here (icon format):

Stream Giro d’Italia Live | fuboTV

so suddenly we go from being able to watch everything to…what? i don’t know. looking for sketchy feeds on the internet sounds about right. and this flo sports company looks pretty shady. they say nothing regarding coverage, nothing regarding dvr capabilities, no free trial, nothing. just give us $150 and find out. but they’re the ones UCI chose apparently, and who knows about ASO, but it’s not fubo

I’m pretty sure that is not accurate. NBC owned the broadcast and internet rights to ASO-organized events in 2020, and to the best of my knowledge, still do in 2021.

Nothing on Fubo’s website mentions anything about ASO events.

FWIW on Fubo you can still see Vuelta reruns. That is today’s schedule.

that’s on the nbc olympic channel

Yes.

Still in my cloud DVR:

it’s quite accurate. look again at that link i posted. do you not see the logos for volta, fleche wallone, “and more”? i can assure you that the “and more” included paris roubaix, liege bastogne, tour of oman, avenir etc because i paid for the channel and watched and/or dvr’d all of them via my fubo subscription.

and they don’t mention ASO events because they don’t mention the dedicated cycling channel that all of these races were broadcast on. it’s gone.

Nope.

Fleche Wallone is not listed, the volta (I assume catalunya) is not ASO…and all the other event listed adhere to what I outlined above.

Don’t you think that if they had the rights to some of the biggest events in cycling, they would list them individually and not listed under “and more”?

They don’t mention ASAO events because they didn’t have the rights to them in the US.

alright buddy. not going to argue. i watched fleche wallone and pretty much every other race on the planet, ASO or UCI, on fubo tv. and someone should inform ASO that volta is not their event

Toutes les épreuves cyclistes - ASO.fr

I’m not certain what bug is up inside you, but I am just laying out the facts.

But yes, you are correct. I was wrong when I said I assumed the “Volta” logo on the Fubo page was the Volta Cataluyna. Unfortunately it was so small I could not make out which Volta it was.

But…the logo for the Volta Cataluyna listed on the ASO page is not the same logo as the “Volta” race listed on Fubo’s webpage, so it is a different race.

Again, NBC Sports had exclusive rights to ASO events in the US.

it was the volta cataluyna i watched. on fubo cycling. in the united states. legally. vpn free

the bug up inside me is that all i want to do is sit peacefully in my home in the usa and watch these races. in 2020 i was actually able to do that for $10 a month (on top of the normal $60 per month) via fubo cycling on fubo tv. but now it seems that’s gone. this, coupled with the demise of nbc sports and these flobikes clowns, means i’m in for a lot of disappointment and frustration it seems, and that makes me really sad. what makes me salty is when someone who clearly doesn’t know of fubo tv tells me i wasn’t watching the cycling events i was watching. so forgive my saltiness, i’m just really frustrated.

now, i don’t know what contracts NBC had/has for UCI and/or ASO events, but i can 1000% assure you that fubo had contracts as well, whether with UCI/ASO directly or rebroadcast rights from NBC, but on that channel they had every damn road and cross race on the calendar. according to a message i received from cyclingfans.com when i asked about it, it seems fubo didn’t (or wasn’t able to) renew those contracts, so fubo cycling is “in limbo” according to them:

“We contacted Fubo and they tell us they did not renew their contracts for cycling. So things are up in the air at the moment. Our contact said he has no details but he will try and find out more.”

btw i was able to find this regarding the (seemingly) dearly departed fubo cycling:

Internet television service FuboTV has acquired exclusive rights in the U.S. and Canada to broadcast the Giro d’Italia and other RCS races including Strade Bianche, Milan-San Remo, Tirreno-Adriatico, and the Tour of Lombardy. Fubo TV has also acquired the rights to Flanders Classics races such as Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Gent-Wevelgem, Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders), among others. Finally, through an agreement with NBC, subscribers to FuboTV in the U.S.A. have access to NBC races such as the Tour de France, Tour of California, Colorado Classic, Vuelta a Espana and more. Fubo TV also has the Tour de Romandie.

So I did some digging…it appears what you watched on Fubo was just NBC Spots’ coverage…not through the Fubo cycling channel. Which, since Fubo also carried NBCSports, amkes complete sense and aligns with the fact that NBC Sports had the broadcast rights for ASO events.

If you don’t have cable and want more than what’s offered on the NBC app, a subscription to FuboTV costs $55 per month and gives you full access to NBC’s live coverage of the race. It’s also great for those who love cycling year round, as Fubo has a full-time cycling channel covering the major Tours, the Classics, some World Championships, and even BMX racing. (It’s also available in Canada.)

And new for 2020, Fubo now has a stand-alone cycling passport of its own ($120). It won’t get you the Tour (unless you’re a monthly FuboTV subscriber) but it will get you the Giro and many of the Italian and Flemish Classics such as Milan-Sanremo and the Tour of Flanders. Canadian fans should also consider a subscription to FloBikes, which will be airing all three Grand Tours (including the Tour de France), the Classics, and much, much more.

so you think i just invented the existence of the fubo cycling channel? what did they show there? read my post above which explains that fubo had their own broadcast contracts in addition to rebroadcast rights to nbcsn events that they chose not to broadcast

[
Whatever dude…I really don’t care. See what I posted above for a full, clear explanation. If you want to stress out over watching races that aren’t even happening for months yet, have at it.

actually, what i posted was the full clear explanation. but yeah if you don’t care then stop telling me that the only thing on the dedicated fubo cycling channel was nbcsn events. who the hell would pay an extra $10 a month for fubo cycling when the only thing you allege they broadcast were events already available on the nbcsn channel, which is part of their basic lineup? does that make sense to you at all? or, (now go with me on this) is it POSSIBLE that fubo paid for their own broadcast rights for their own cycling channel irrespective of other providers in addition to NBCSN content? i had the channel and watched all of it. did you?

Uhhhh…that is pretty much the exact opposite of what I said.
