AI workout adjustments

Hey, for context - I’m working through sustained power build having done ssb1&2. I’m rebuilding my ftp after dropping from 330-240 due to a miserable divorce . Now sitting at 285 which is encouraging.

Last week I did a vo2 workout at level 7 and found it ok so responded to the feedback that it was moderately difficult.
This week my vo2 session has been reduced to mills -4 which is only a 5.8 level and achievable, it just seems strange not to progress through the levels?

Does AI calculate that I just need to back off a bit?

There are likely a few things at play here.

TrainerRoad makes adjustments to your schedule for a large number of reasons, and recent training stress is one of them, so it is possible that you don’t need a higher-level workout to be productive today.

Something else that stood out to me is that today’s workout is 45 minutes long. Shorter workouts tend to feel tougher since there is a bit more work stuffed into a time-crunched duration.

So while today’s workout has a lower Workout Level and TSS, it actually has a higher IF (.93 vs.87).

I’d give that workout a shot and see how it feels. It’s best not to get too caught up in the Workout Level and focus more on how the workout feels. Your post-workout survey will help us understand how you were feeling today and if that workout was the right call.
