Anybody else finding that the AI seems to have a really strong preference (seems to be 100% for the last block and this one!) for scheduling on off workouts? Seeing this for both VO2 and Anaerobic workouts. Plan is based on a rolling road race event. Trying to figure out whether it’s doing it based on my individual history, my target event, or just because it thinks those workouts are better in terms of training stimulus vs fatigue and it’s doing the same for everybody.
I just don’t really like those workouts. Prefer doing VO2 and Anaerobic work outside, but lots of very short intervals and recoveries are hard to execute well out on open roads. Much easier in erg mode but don’t like that (and worry that trainer lag with those big jumps and short durations is undermining the workout quality). Obviously I can just switch the workout type and often have been, just got me wondering.
TR, not just the new Ai, have always had a preference for on offs. Different plans have different type of VO2Max workouts and since the plan you get is mostly based on your A-event it will be your target event that controls this. Base blocks and short and general build are all filled with on offs, so it makes sense that you get a lot of it with a rolling road race plan.
Simplest solution is indeed to swap workouts as needed, but you can also play around with the plan builder to try and get a sustained power build phase. There the VO2Max workouts are traditional and long suprathreshold.
