After racing on a Crux for 3 seasons

I decided it’s time to try out some creature comforts! New Bike Day, Diverge 4 Expert, threw some 50s on straight away. Gonna get it out on dirt this morning and see how it rides.

I bet you’re going to love the new shifters! Bike looks great!

How’s the weight compared to the Crux?

Initial 20 miles, about 80% on dirt. This thing is super comfortable! The 50s may be a little overkill for the gravel in this area but they sure are confident in corners and downhill, and super soft! I may swap the FS to the stiffer spring to test but I didn’t notice it except for one in the drops sprint I could feel a little disconnect between legs and hands the first couple pedal strokes then everything synced up.

What do those 50mm Terras actually measure out to?

On Rovals they’re 49, I bet they’ll loosen up to 50 after a few rides.

The Crux fits 50s you know. I have the Tracer 50 on my Crux. They’re awesome. Wish they made a Pathfinder 50.

FS? Spring? I’m sure I’m being dumb, but what are we talking about here?

Edit: well, now I know. That’s well hidden away isn’t it!

50 didn’t fit on mine (25iw rim) as it rubbed the rear due to frame flex. Haven’t tried 50 pathfinders… but the old 47’s works well for me.

I am kind of on the fence here. When it comes to bikes, I am a bit like a child - I make emotional decisions and really love to ride something I like. On the gravel side, I currently run a titanium frame (Rondo Ruut Ti) with all of teh components changed (lots of carbon, Zipp 303 Firecrest, SRAM AXS). So while the Diverge 4 looks awesome and I think that the suspension “thing” is really cool (I rode it and liked it a lot on teh previous version of Diverge), I am not sure about the specs on Spec’s website. The top model is expensive (I do not need Red, Force/Roval mix is very similar in terms of performance, if not the same), and I do not like the color. I would prefer to be able to buy the frame and build it on my own. I do not feel like paying for wheels that are not super nice. Maybe they are good, but not my cup of tea. Will they introduce the frame only as an option for purchase?

It is hard to know for sure, but they haven’t offered frame only options for many years. It looks like the last model year they did was in 2022. Specialized Diverge Archives

They measure 50.2 after 80 miles on the Roval Terras

Took it on a mostly road ride, rpe of maybe 5-6/10. I’m still waiting on my power crank to come in so I’m not sure what my w/kg were but 21 miles with 600 ft of elevation and it held 18.4mph, I’m 83kg. It’s definitely not a slow bike… I do think I’m going to swap to the stiffer spring on the Future Shock, or install the upgrade kit where I can adjust it on the fly.
