Just sold my 2022 Crux, it’s been an incredibly worthy steed for almost 3 years now but I made my buddy a deal on it. I’m looking at the new Pro model with the Force 13 speed. I’ve run 50 tracers on my Crux in dry conditions no issues and they’re great, but I know it won’t really fit mtb tires like other frames can.
The only other bikes that have peaked my interest are the Ventum GS1 and Lauf Seigla Rigid.
Anything else worth taking a look at that can fit 50s+?
The rumor mill on the 2026 Crux is that it will have some aero elements and fit 50s. Not sure if you want to wait that long (especially if the rumors are untrue). Whatever you end up with, I’d love to hear your comparison to the 22 once you have it.
I think they’re calling what they just released the “2026”. I am definitely interested in waiting to see what the Diverge is all about. Lael Wilcox has been spotted riding it around with Air Traks on it.
I have a 2022 Crux as well. I’ve been saving up and having money to spend on a new rig but nothing is really making me jump to it. Especially all the new releases. What I love about the Crux is how much it feels like a road bike. Some ppl might hate that but I think it makes it magical. I don’t ever think I’ll get ride of this frame. It’ll just become my all round bike when I do find a new gravel racer.
Anyway my short list would be the Enve MOG and new Allied Able. They are a bit pricey tho imo. The Able apparently is awesome on gravel but not a great road bike (I have to ride a lot of road still to get to gravel). The MOG is probably the best gravel bike out right now but I have heard it can rub with 2.2 Racekings so that would defeat the purpose of upgrading from the Crux for me personally. The Lauf is intriguing but again feels a bit two one dimensional. Anyway I’m just rambling.
Why did you sell the crux and what are you looking for exactly? Simply bigger tire clearance? Lauf and the new Argon 18 gravel bike are probably the best bets then.
Revolt is a great bike, but officially supports up to 53. People squeeze 2.2’s on them in good conditions, but it’s not going to work for sloppy/sticky conditions (at least not in rear).
I pulled the trigger on a Siegla earlier this year and love it so far. I miss the down tube storage I had on my checkpoint, but other than that it checks every box for me. Proper clearance for 57/2.25’s and options for rigid or suspension fork. Bike is a cheat code on chunky stuff with the big tires and front suspension.
I’ve only ridden a crux briefly. I’ve spent more time on a Checkpoint and Aspero-5. When I was looking at the Mog, I wanted something that had
-Standard BB
-Frame storage
-UDH
-Clearance for 50mm tires
I bought the mog before some of the newer bikes like the Allied/UDH Crux were available, but I think I’d make the same choice.
I have a Revolt and run 2.2 race kings though I avoid riding in wet conditions for the most part. If I were buying right now, I’d just get a Lauf and would also be very happy with that bike.
Geometrywise I have not pulled the trigger on Seigla. Possible toe overlap and not so steep seatpost…or are these a problem in real life? How do you see it?
Another thing is the frame looks very bad on aero properties. But maybe thats not a problem anyways…
I bought one of the very first Lauf’s (the True Grit, not the Segla) and did have toe overlap issues, but I wear a 48/49, so ymmv if you prefer larger bikes or have shorter feet.
I ride a Crux which I love but seriously considering getting an Allied Able next year. Checks all the boxes I am looking for with accepting 2.25 tires, UDH, threaded bottom bracket, downtube storage, top tube bag mounts. Plus you can select crank arm length when ordering!
