4iiii launches power meter with “find my” integration

Definitely. My problem is that is locked to an eco system. But not a big deal TBH. This is much better than nothing at all.

x86 Macs will continue to work just fine, they will stop getting NEW, free features, and eventually security updates, but that applies to everything.

The rest haven’t lost software support, they just don’t come on NEW computers. You can still hook up an external CD drive and use it on the latest Macs.

Almost nobody sells square taper cranks anymore. Does that mean we can’t pedal our bikes? No, they just moved on to new designs.

I’ll give you some other examples: 30 pin connector to Lightning to USB-C. These are areas where Apple could have made things incompatible. Instead they made it all still work.

Same with AirPlay 1 vs 2, getting PowerPC apps to run on Intel and getting Intel-compiled apps to run on Apple Silicon (both of which took a LOT of effort to do well).

All the evidence says Apple won’t stop supporting the AirTag and Find My protocols even if they come up with something better in the future.

Sometimes the best standard to use is the proprietary one. Just look at the wide adaption and consumer appreciation for SRAM’s UDH. Even people running Shimano drivetrains benefit from most shops stocking spare UDH hangers, whereas they never could the hundreds of unique non-standard hangars.

Yes. The clamping standard for Shimano hasn’t changed in years.
